Theme changing in WFsection when changing category

Hi there.

I have a strange request from the designer behind a site i am working on.

Is it possible to change the theme or part of a theme for a website, when the user changes category ?

it is stuff like the head bar that should have some graphics changed, and also some of the left column menues and stuff like that.

It there a nice way to do this, or do i have to go into the problems of hardcoding it into the theme file by using smarty templates ?

I don't know of any simple workaround for this:

This thread here might be helpful for changing styles etc according to url:

In wfsections of course you can have different background colors for each page using wysiwyg.

We've done something similar (changing the logo and navigation bar for different categories within a module), using the ID for each category to determine the appropriate display.

There's a test site up that does this for the news, links and downloads modules. If this looks like it might be useful to you let me know and we'll provide more info next week.

It works pretty well so long as you don't need to add new categories all the time - since you do have to go in and add the IDs for each new category that you create. I think WF-Section uses article IDs, not category IDs, so it might not be very convenient with that particular module if you are using it to publish a lot.

Hi there

I actually use wfsection for publishing articles.

But i am planning on simply adding the category ID to the URL when displaying articles, and then use this information to change the site from the theme.html.

Do you think this would work ?

Thanks for the link to your site, i have keept freshwater fish for years myself, and now love to dive places like the Red Sea and more, i am sure going to surf you page when i get the time.

We didn't try that, but I think so - can't see why you couldn't.
