max100 (Matthew?) -

I don't use msn (I try to avoid Microsoft whenever possible), but we can either work by email or pm. I'll drop you an email at the msn address you listed. If you'd reply to my post on surmunity.com, then I'll know who you are in that forum. I'm posting as jjhost.

Stewdio,

I haven't been with Surpass that long, but so far so good. Other than moving up to a dedicated server with them, I don't see me making any changes in the forseeable future.

If you decide to make the jump, well, welcome aboard.

John

max100,

I'm hosting with Surpass as well. You're right, they are great.

I posted over there that I am willing to help anyone that needed help with a XOOPS install. If you want me to give you a hand, just reply to my post over at surmunity.com and I'll help you get up and running.

It really depends on what type of content you are wanting ti add.

There are modules for articles, news, and headlines. If you are wanting to add pages of static content, you may want to look at cjay content, wfsection, tiny content, and freecontent.

I have used freecontent and cjay content for wrapping static html pages. I'm sure others can speak about the other modules.

If you can describe what you are wanting to do, I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction.

Has anyone gotten this to work correctly? I downloaded webmail2 fromhttp://gererstorfer.net and installed it on 206. I did find some suggested fixes in the forum on gererstorfer.net, but while they fixed one issue, now it seems more broken than ever.

If someone could get this working correctly, I think that it would be a "must have" module for a certain portion of the community. Other modules provide calendaring, to-do, and various other groupware functions, but as of now, we don't have a good webmail module.

From what I've seen, even in it's broken state, webmail2 could be that module, once the bugs are worked out.

If nobody has gotten it to work, I will contact the person who originally ported it to XOOPS to see if he has the interest and time to work out these issues. If not, I guess this could be my first attempt to give something back to the community.

kain,

I think all Jan304 was saying was that he has never been the victim of that group of hackers, and hopes that he never is.

I don't think his comment was meant to mean anything more.

I've been looking at htmlarea3 and it does look pretty good. It doesn't support "all" browsers, but at least it is cross-platfarm so that everyone would at least have the ability to run it, even if not on their favorite browser. As a Linux user, I know that this would be great for me.

If nobody else takes this on, maybe I can try to hack it into one of the modules that currently uses spaw to see how it works.

Actually, it was set to "Top" in the blocks. What got me in trouble was when I set CJay Content as the module for my startpage. That's when it put the CJay menu in the center block, and clicking on any of the links changed to the appropriate url, but instead of seeing that page, it stayed on the menu in the center block.

I know there must be some way to default to a particular page, but I don't know how. I may have to wrap the "Top" page manually, but I really didn't want to have to do that, because ultimately, other people will be maintaining the site, and the wysiwyg editor in CJay made that easier for them.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It's actually worse than I thought. Once I set CJay to be my top page, I get the list of contents in the center block. Now when I click on any CJay link, instead of going to that page, it just leaves the list in the center block.

Guess I better turn that off and come up with something else for the top page. If anyone has any idea what went wrong, please let me know.

Thanks.

I am using CJay Content 2.5 for most of my content. I would like to create the "index" (top) page of the site using CJay as well. When I set the Top Page in admin menu to "CJay Content", I see a list of all of my CJay content in the center block. What I would like to do is specify one of my pages of content as the "top" page.

I have seen others do it, so I know it can be done. I just don't know how.

Can someone explain?

Thanks.

No, thank you for such a badly needed module.
