hey, looks pretty good... it would help if i could read it, but ah well....

if i was to suggest one thing, it would be to try and find some way you can split up that image at the top of the page. not everyone has 1280*1024, after all.

great job. keep up the good work!

hi. this sounds like a really good hack and would help in solving problems w/ crawlers and spammers. however, one question; is this hack compatible w/ 2.2, 2.0, or both? Thanks!

i guessing that when you're referring to 2.2 and 2.3, you mean 2.2.2 to 2.2.3....

the patches that are released are generally version to version, meaining that a patch to upgrade to 2.2.3 would exclusively be available for those running 2.2.2, not from 2.0.13.1.

i'm not sure if there is a way to go back from 2.2.3 to 2.0.13.1. you best bet may be to apply the 2.0.13.1 to 2.2.0 patch to your site, update, and then patch up from there, though i'm not sure if this will quite work. another alternative might be to put on your site 2.0.13.1 as if you were transfering it to another server (put the MySQL database backup on the site, change mainfile.php, etc.), but as i'm not 110% sure how XOOPS completly works, i'm not sure if the system will still think it's a fresh install. you may want to seek out a better authority when it comes to XOOPS installation to see if there's a way to revert back (someone else is bound to reply to this post, too).

i sure hope this all helps and i wish you the best of luck with your site!

EDIT: I just realized that 2.2.3 has been declared a Release Candidate, meaning there are glitches that need to be ironed out that could cause elements of the site not to work. That might be the problem, seeing there's two of you that are having this problem.

hmm... i don't know if it would quite work, because the XOOPS installer will expect an empty database and will throw up errors when it tries to create a table that already exists.

you could always try downloading the XOOPS patches and install them one by one until you get all the way up to the most recent stable version. that way, the site and its information will stay intact.

hope that helps!

there are two paramaters to set, the "Server Timezone" and the "Default Timezone". check with your server admin to find out what timezone they're set to, and set the server timezone paramater to this. then, set the default timezone to what your timezone is for the site. this should fix the problem. good luck with your site!

Hello. I'm trying to develop a theme where you can create an image for a module that will display when a site visitor goes to that specific mod. However, I'm trying to develop it so that you don't have to create images for those mods you don't want images for (for example, a 1px*1px spacer for each mod that doesn't have it's own image). So.. to the question...

How can i check to see whether an image file exists before putting the image on the page, so that if the file doesn't exist, i can put in something different, like a space?

thanks in advance!

i tried a couple of gallery mods and i like using myAlbumP for the plain and simple reason that is supports the GD2 library and my host doesn't have imagemagic or netpbm and i don't know how to install them. XoopsGallery seems really cool, but it was waaayyy too hard to set up, though it might be simpler if your host has ImageMagic or NetPBM.

in reponse to your second comment, i don't know if there's any of the gallery mods that support users creating their own gallery using their user name, but in myAlbumP, there's a My Photos link, that users can use to browse through their postings.

well, i hope that helps you out. good luck with your site!

i looked around in the admin section (for newbb2) and i don't see any setting for the forums for adding/deleting permissions to specific users. i'd try creating a new group for this purpose and setting permissions for the group on the forum's admin page. to set the access permissions for users on newbb2:

1) Go to Forum > Forums from the admin sidebar.
2) Click the edit icon for the forum you'd like to set permissions for.
3) At the top of the page, beside "Global Access Level", check the groups that you'd like to have permission to access the forum.
4) Click Submit at the bottom of the form to save your settings.

Well, i hope that helps. good luck with your site!

Hi davidtillyer! With WF-Channel, to pull a page off of the submenu...

1. Go to the module's main admin page.
2. Click on "Link Page Settings" to bring up the options page for the Link To Us page.
3. Scroll down to the heading "Menu and Page Settings" and choose "No" for the question "Add as Sub Menu Link?"
4. Save your changes.
5. Now, do the same for the Refer a Friend page by clicking on "Refer Page Settings" and following the same steps above.

As for the second question, I'm not too sure if this is possible. If I find a solution, I'll post it here.

Well, hope that all helps. Good luck with your site!

Hello. From what you're saying, I think you're asking about users being able to edit the submissions they make to News 1.3.
In News 1.3, go to "Preferences" (located on the hovering menu bar when your cursor hovers over the image of a module) and locate the option "Enable authors to edit their post ?". Select "yes". From that point, the user should be able to edit their news article by visiting the article and clicking "Edit".
Well, hope that helps. Good luck with your site!
-zimmi88 =)

|EDIT|
Oops, sorry, i thought you were talking about users. To allow for moderation on various topics, you'll probably need to create different groups for the various moderators, or use a different module. I believe ARMS 0.3 offers you to assign moderation abilities for different topics to different users, but it's an article management system instead of a news portal. Sorry about the trouble.
