Hi Guys..

On news 1.3 i can set news to be edited/posted by unregistered/registered and admin.

I want it so you can set individual users to edit their own news category. So user1 can edit/post news in section1, and user2 can edit/post news in section2.

Is there any way I can do this?

Thanks guys,

mes

Hello. From what you're saying, I think you're asking about users being able to edit the submissions they make to News 1.3.
In News 1.3, go to "Preferences" (located on the hovering menu bar when your cursor hovers over the image of a module) and locate the option "Enable authors to edit their post ?". Select "yes". From that point, the user should be able to edit their news article by visiting the article and clicking "Edit".
Well, hope that helps. Good luck with your site!

Oops, sorry, i thought you were talking about users. To allow for moderation on various topics, you'll probably need to create different groups for the various moderators, or use a different module. I believe ARMS 0.3 offers you to assign moderation abilities for different topics to different users, but it's an article management system instead of a news portal. Sorry about the trouble.

Ok thanks zimmi,

What i needed though is a portal where different users are in charge of their own news section, so not everyone can post news in all sections (different mod for each news section). Is this possible, if not can you think of any solutions that do have this feature?

Thanks Guys,

mes

Or is it possible with News 1.3 to have moderators able to post news, rather than just admin/registered users?

just create different groups, add the users to those groups and then set permissions for each group to submit..

I have sorted that out now really need help with somthing along the same lines.

Basically I want registered users to be able to post news, then each moderator can view the submissions to their news sections and choose to add it or not.

any ideas?

u would need to set the registered group so they can submit, then in admin news preferences turn auto approve off, that way all submissions need to be approved. i don't know if news 1.3 allows you to select groups that can approve or not, u would have to look at the options available..

failing that, you could always use AMS 2.41 module which i do know allows you to select groups allowed to approve and submit..
