I have XOOPS installed in my laptop, I'm developing a website in it.

My XOOPS version is very old, so I have though this:

1) Create a new site in my laptop with the latest version of XOOPS.

2) Link this new site with the same sql database that the old site.

3) Install in the new site the same modules as the old site.

4) Delete the old site.

Could I do this???

Could I recover the information from the database if I do this?

Thanks in advance for your answers and excuse me my bad english.

hmm... i don't know if it would quite work, because the XOOPS installer will expect an empty database and will throw up errors when it tries to create a table that already exists.

you could always try downloading the XOOPS patches and install them one by one until you get all the way up to the most recent stable version. that way, the site and its information will stay intact.

hope that helps!
