This is a strange one & am hoping that someone can help me figure out what is happening.

About 3 months ago, people started to get logged out of the forums on my site randomly. They log back in & are redirected to the appropriate thread but are immediately logged back out. Until the IIS redirection bug was squashed recently, people would have to re-login & navigate back to the thread but they would be logged out when they clicked the reply button. The only way to fix the problem is to have the user in question clear their cookies for my site & then login back in. The issue is very intermittent - have cleared both cache & templates_c directory thinking something may have gotten corrupted but that didn't reslove the issue. Stopping & Re-starting IIS did not clear the issue up so I don't think its an issue with IIS.

Does anyone have any insight as to what may be causing this?

Thanks

Can't answer the 1st part of your question but you can use the DIV tag to center your button in the block

<div align=center>
Your Code
</div>

Please let me know how this goes as I am very intereted in this module.

I see your point --- I did a little research and you are correct. This is a perfect example of what you are stating:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=404%20error%20page%20templates

Even though I show up high in the results, someone with the info in their page title appeared higher than I did.

So guys - what's the best way to address this? Is this being addressed by the devs? I don't do hacks. At 1 point I looked at the Temas Mod as I thought it would do this but it really didn't work.

If your site is listed in Google directory, you will have a chance of high ranking. It seems that Google has been filtering out many sites listed in DMOZ directory. With so much power, Google seems to misbehave a lots recently.

I'm listed in DMOZ several times & it doesn't seem to have affected my position within Google --- perhaps because I am making them a ton of money with their AdSense program helps too

I agree that page titles help but my point is that the ranking for my site is high without having used page titles other than what comes with the core of Xoops. If you go to Google or Yahoo and search on IIS we show up in the top 15 & that number slowly continues to go up as we get more and more content on the site. Also, I think a lot of it has to do with how relevant your content is to the search in question,

Guys -

I used to think that Page titles were important for ranking but now I'm not so sure. Been using XOOPS for a long time now & when you do a simple search for IIS on Google, my site comes up #6. The point is that your ranking is based on a lot more than your page title. Google & the other major search engines do use page titles but they primarily base ranking on content and how relevant your site is to the search term. I am also constantly updating my meta tags - not sure is that helps or not.

I have a question about Google caching. I know its relatively easy to restrict google & the other engines from caching the site. Wouldn't the normal SOP be to restrict caching so that the users always have to come to the site instead of viewing a cached copy of our site? Wouldn't this in the long run increase traffic?

Whenever someone using the hotmail or yahoo mail service registers, the email is delivered but dumped into the bulk mail folder. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Thanks

Spent some time tonight trying to figure out why this was now working on Brashquido's site & not mine. Here is what we figured out ----- DO NOT CACHE the Login block if you are running on Windows and IIS. For some reason, the minute I turned off caching on the block, users are now redirected to the correct forum.

KUDOS!!!!! This has been my biggest beef for quite some time & am extremely happy as now XOOPS works exactly the same on Apache & IIS. You guys are to be commended for such a great product!

Thanks again!

johnnyICON -

Running XOOPS on an XP based system is a little different as by default Simple File Sharing is enabled on XP. In order to get rid of the error messages about file streams not found or not being writable, you'll need to open Windows Explorer & go to Tools| Folder Options. Click on the View Tab --- all the way at the bottom uncheck Simple File Sharing. Now, go to your web content directory, click on Properties & go to the Security Tab. Add the IUSR_MachineName account & give it Modify Permissions.

Voila - your stream errors should go away.

Ok - IIS 6 basically comes in locked down mode & will only serve up static HTML files. When you have a 3rd party scripting language such as PHP or Perl, you need to create and enable a web service extension.

To do this, you will need to open the Internet Information Services Manager (found in Admin Tools) & double click the Web Service Extensions. Create a new entry for PHP & point it back to whatever you have setup in your script mapping & make sure to enable it. Now, your IIS server will run PHP pages for you
