This may be a stupid question, but since I don't know the answer, I need to ask.

I'm setting up a site using the MIB2 theme (excellent theme by the way). I'm using TinyD for content. On the top page, I only want a single block that goes across the entire width of the site (menu is horizontal across the top of the page). Even when I turn off all blocks in the left column, the tinycontent block will not use that space. It will use the space that would be used by the right block if one existed, but not the left. I suspect I could hack the theme.html file to remove the left block (or would I have to modify the template?), but then I would not have the option of using it on other pages.

Is it possible to use the space reserved for the left block, or do I need to redesign my site so that I use that space for something else? It looks stupid just sitting there empty.

Thanks.

John

I am working on the same thing. How are you taking orders for hosting? Are you using a script, or just taking the contact info? Also, who are you using for domain registrations? They might have a script that you can integrate with your site. I am planning on using whois.cart for both hosting and domain registration. While I don't think I can make whois.cart an actual XOOPS module, I do hope to wrap it so that it feels integrated from a user perspective.

carnuke -

When I first started to read your post, I was afraid something was wrong. Then I saw that it was quite the opposite.

So far, Surpass has lived up to their name for me. I've been with several hosts, and they've surpassed them all. As was previously stated, if you're happy where you're at, it's a real pain to move, but if you do need to move, I couldn't think of a better place to move to.

Phil,

I feel your pain. I'm dealing with the same top page issue as well. Back in March, the author said he was going on vacation for a week and would fix it upon his return.

He hasn't posted in his forum since then.

I've been getting around it by not using CJay for my top page. You can hard code the page that will load first, but that will short circuit the ability to show certain modules only on the top page. If that's not an issue for you, I can dig it up for you, or I'm sure somebody here can tell you off the top of their head.

If it is an issue, have you tried Tiny Content or TinyD?

Problems with eCal 2.24

I'm trying to use eCal 2.24 with XOOPS 2.0.6. I am having 2 issues:

1. On the "main" view, the variable _CALENDEVENT is printed in the upper left hand corner instead of it's value, which is set to Event Calendar. I have uploaded and reinstalled multiple times with the same result. All of the other variables display as they should. I installed it on a second domain, and it works fine. SO far I haven't found any differences between the two other than one works and the other doesn't. Worst case, I can either hard code the value (only need English), or delete that line altogether. It would be nice to get it working though, in case it is a symptom of a larger problem.

2. The more important issue: I need for the calendar to start on Monday insead of Sunday. I found a post in this forum describing how to make that change, but it was only for the mini sideblock calendar, not the main centerblock calendar.

If anyone can help with either issue, especially #2, I would really appreciate it. eCal is perfect for what I need, I just need it to start on Monday.

Thanks!!

John

max,

Looks like you are correct - directnic doesn't do .uk domains. GoDaddy does, so they may be your best bet, plus they are cheaper. After looking them over, I may have to give them a try myself.

I didn't see anything on their site about the cost of transferring a .uk domain, but plain .com is $6.95, which is cheap. Your best bet would probably be to send them an email and ask them the cost and how to proceed.

Once you get your domain with a good registrar, you should be good to go.

I remembered hearing from people that had problems with them, but that has been some time ago, so I suspect whatever problems they were having were finally resolved. I just didn't feel like finding out.

Just be prepared - if max gets his domain transferred to godaddy, you get to handle the support.
