Ah, thanks for the info. Bummer.

It makes for a nice compact alternative to the standard user menu. I'll play around with it a bit then. Very strange coming from using phpNuke where I had no real groups abilities and didn't miss not having them to XOOPS where I now find groups indispensible for everything and wonder how I coped before.

Tabs Mod -- How to Display Only to Reg'd Users?

Using the tab mod, how would I word the query to only allow registered users to view some tabs? Basically, if they can't access it I'd like to make it invisible to them.

For example, if I have a calendar for registered members I have it set with the following:

Tab Name: Calendar
Parent: ROOT_PATH
Link: modules/agendax/index.php?op=cal
Condition: $dirname=="agendax"

I'm sure it's a simple addition of a query to the condition line but without a sample or two for me to learn from, I'm afraid my SQL/PHP knowledge is too limited.... I'd be curious as to what conditions others have selected.

Nope. Still not working on my end. I redownloaded the file linked to above and it is identical to the one that I'd placed in the /modules/system/admin directory already. Doublechecked everything.

And since I just found the boneheaded mistake I made, I'll just cross my plea for help out and say thanks instead.

Once again, operator error.

In my haste to make all my privilege changes I did not press submit for each of the three subsections. Soooo, I'd make the changes and hit submit at the bottom of the page. It recorded the changes for the View section but not the Approve or Change sections.

Thanks for your patience and my apologies for wasting your time!

If that is the same as the one from the dev site listed in the announcement for News 1.2, then I have already installed it. I grabbed a zip file (which I presumed was correct since someone in the thread had asked for the php file to be zipped so it was easier to download) of it this morning before testing.

If it's a newer/different one then I'll check into that this evening.

In the latest News module, if you edit group privileges, save and then return to edit the group privileges, the current or "old" Approve and Submit privileges are not checkmarked but the View privileges are.

-----

Longer version to clarify just in case, step-by-step: :)

Select Submit/Approve Permissions.
Change any permissions.
Submit changes.

Select Submit/Approve Permissions.
There are NO checkmarked boxes in the Approve or Submit sections. However, there ARE checkmarked boxes in the View permissions.

It would be very useful to be able to see all CURRENT privileges so you know what you are adding or deleting.

[edit to fix typo in the title]

A group enabled wiki sounds like a great idea. For many projects, you want to allow some users access to edit the documentation but not necessarily all. Would this be difficult to implement/hack?

Ideally, I'd like to see all modules have group permissions for read/write/edit/delete capabilities so that administration can be granted on an as needed basis.

Also, someone mentioned that the documentation "disappearing" can leave a bad taste for some people and turn them off. I'd like to simply say thank you for having documentation at all. Most CMS' are not easy to understand, roll-out and customize for us non-programmers. I really appreciate the resources the XOOPS community has put together. To me, THAT is a significant selling point.

That and the rapid responses like those to this thread really point out what the support structure is like.

Not sure the best way to inform the powers that be in charge of such things. I tried to go to the Theme Development info via the link on the left column here at xoops.org (link below for convenience).

http://wiki.xoops.org/wakka.php?wakka=XoopsThemesDoc

It appears that the information has been erased and at least one comment isn't exactly on-topic....

Methinks the requestor wants to force the name field to be filled in at registration time and to make it a non-optional entry.

How are you handling forums? Importing into newBB? Do avatars and such follow the user to new forums? Do forum restrictions follow? This would likely be the largest stumbling block for most people making a conversion to a new CMS.

I have a site that I'd like to convert over if I could do so painlessly. Otherwise for me and my lack of php skills, it's likely easier to start over from scratch and learn as I go.

Ah now THAT is a productive way to train someone.

It would be nice to have a suite of VoIP options -- Ventrilo, GameVoice, TeamSpeak, etc -- some day as people tend to get quasi-religious about their VoIP choices. This would be a great start though towards such a module.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your looking into this!
