I've noticed that PM's do not show as waiting any longer. What do I need to do for users to know they have received a PM?

Modification to CBB 3 or 4

I have zero php programming experience, so I'm trying to learn to adapt code as best as I can.

What I would like to do is emulate some of the functionality available for showing microbadges or mini-icons for each forum user that has been implemented at boardgamegeek.com. This is a sample thread.

My goal is to tie the tiny icons to choices in each users profile.

I'd like to learn how to do this by using an existing field and a directory of images. How would I go about displaying the user's country flag? For my purposes I'm going to assume all my users are US, Canada and Great Britain so I don't have to create a zillion images. Start small and then expand my knowledge from there. And then hopefully refine the hack to give back to the community.

Any pointers for a novice?

Thanks in advance!

If you add a quote in forums or a news story, it pulls the formatting from the appropriate theme css file. However, when it posts you get the word "Quote:" in addition to the formatting which is redundant and repetitive. How do I remove the "Quote:" from a quote?

Quote:
Here's an example. Notice just above this box the word Quote: that I want to get rid of.

I know it has to be easy to do. But I've searched the forums and dug through all the php files that look like that might contain that function to no avail.

Thanks in advance!!!

Will this help with the SEO question? This is the text from one of the options when creating an article. It has a text box to fill in.
Quote:
Short URL*
When using the SEO features of this module, you can specify a Short URL for this article. This field is optional.

I have little fears.. I suppose that Publisher can import SmartSection articles

Import from SmartSection is NOT yet implemented but is on the list of to-do's for the module. I'm hoping they offer imports from Article, News, AMS and SmartSection in the end. And ideally, exporting as well because that's just a nice option for folks that are experimenting.

Now that I think about it, in the most perfect of perfect modules, the importing would include Joomla and Drupal too. :) The easier it is to allow people with established sites to switch, the more likely they will give XOOPS a try. Now if only newBB did that too for phpBB, SMF and maybe the most popular Joomla/Drupal offering....

If you are interested in Publisher, definitely check out the various threads on xuups.com to see what is planned. It's very ambitious and will really move the news/blog functionality of XOOPS forward several leaps.

I have the array error back again.... Nothing's changed but I can't post again. "poster_ipd" was changed to "poster_ip" a little while ago and that fixed it but now it's borked again. Frustrating....

Thanks John. I added my discoveries to the thread you referred to. It's just amazing how many different places all have similar configuration options. It is the strength and Achille's heel of XOOPS that it has such a long history.

It would be nice to remove date code definitions from XOOPS_ROOT/modules/newbb/language/english/main.php if that has been deprecated and moved to another file. It would be VERY nice to have a pointer to the new file. I am using CBB 4.0 and understand that it is beta code so this is probably on the to-do list someplace.

Just to catch people up with this files to look into to solve this problem in case others are still struggling.... And a huge thank you to the person that found the date codes in the locale.php file!!!

I don't understand why one definition is strewn across so many files.

XOOPS_ROOT/modules/newbb/language/english/main.php
-- logical location to change for CBB but it does nothing for date format
-- obsolete code?

XOOPS_ROOT/language/english/global.php
-- does not affect CBB, might have worked for SmartSection and xlhd
-- THIS IS ONE OF THE FILES TO CHANGE FOR non-CBB MODULES

XOOPS_ROOT/language/english/locale.php
-- changes CBB
-- THIS IS ONE OF THE FILES TO CHANGE

XOOPS_ROOT/Frameworks/xoops22/language/english/user.php
-- does not exist in my 2.3.3 installation

XOOPS_ROOT/Frameworks/compat
-- no php files, only 3 gifs, nothing to edit for time

Definitely easier if in the multi language. Making the date/time just "work" as expected is of course the ideal.

I've spent the entire evening trying to get date formats to look the same and have checked every user.php, main.php, global.php, frameworks directory, language/english directory and numerous files in the newbb structure. I've gotten xhld, Publisher/SmartSection and Profile to display the date/time I want. But CBB refuses to cooperate. Any suggestions for a short term fix?
