What would be a good module for user pages?

I have a client who wants to allow registered users to create their own page + maybe their own guestbook but GB is not a must. I just wonder what would be a good module to achieve user pages? Is there a hack to allow more HTML under the profiles?

I'd really really like to recommend they use XOOPS since I run all my sites on it, and I like XOOPS but on the other hand Mambo has a module for user pages that I think would suit their needs better. Any suggestions?

Very good Tom, Really look forward to it. Meanwhile I guess its best for me to go the very manual way - so I won't have to update/move later on. Keep us posted!

That's what I thought. Again, I'd like to offer what little monetary assistance I can give, if he's ok with that.

Looks good Tom thanks and thanks to bd_csmc for hosting the images. I'm a little confused (that's the problem with coming in the game late) this is a different osc mod from the one that's being worked on at myxoopsshop?

Tom are you still using the manual or amember method for your site while this is being worked on?

Hiya all Tarheels.

Tom, I found this a little late your module sounds exactly like what I am looking for! I know you said you paid for it already but I would still like to donate towards it and get my hands on a copy when its done? Possible? Have you already got the module?

You need to go to admin->groups under guests, check that custom block to make it viewable to guests.

Go to admin, template administration and find xoopspartners_block_site.html. Look for
<{if $partner.image != ""}>
      <
img src="<{$partner.image}>" width="88" height="31" border="0" alt="<{$partner.url}>" <{$block.fadeImage}> /><br />
      <{/if}>
      <{
$partner.title}>
That is a direct copy from my template. I've got it as 88x31 too. This will not change what you see in partners admin though but that's ok no one sees that but you. It's been a while since I've done that change but I'm pretty sure that's where it is.

Not sure if this could help or at least fill part of your need.https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=15148&forum=10
I was having some problems implementing the revised version of it and still am though.

Apart from the XOOPS build in back end you can also try lykos reviews. I have it on my site so that I can include more than just news section. I added the weblogs to lykos syndicate also because I wanted everything to be under one module. Check it outhttp://www.bizdome.com/modules/lykos_syndication/

Using another add on - can't remember the name now the news I also 'feed' it to mobile devices such as cell phones and PDA's herehttp://mobile.bizdome.com. Check it out.

Like you I too searched around and initially was going for phpNuke because of their modules but after reviewing how difficult it is to do groups and group access I settled for XOOPS which has a pretty no brainer way to set up your group and group access. A big plus its also very very easy to install. I think my daughter (2 year old) could do it and I installed many CMS's to try out.

All my sites (4) are on XOOPS now and many of them I've moved servers many times and XOOPS stands up with every move, very little or zero problems. A good place to test out many of the CMS's visit www.opensourcecms.com see for yourself. It really boils down to what you want the CMS to do because some just do a particular thing better than others.
