Nope. No effect.
Thanks, though.

Any other ideas?

URGENT HELP NEEDED...all of my posts disappeared!

I backed up the newbb databases using PHPamyadmin, made a copy of the backup, made some slight modifications to the backup and uploaded the modified version (stupid, I know). I got an error. So, I said, "Ha! That's why I made a backup!" and I uploaded the original backup. No errors. But now everything shows up just peachy except that when you get into the threads, there are no posts. I double-checked my backup and all of the post text is in there, so I'm not sure what's missing.

I just tried it again, and I got a ""Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet'" error.

Any ideas on how to recover this?

No entirely sure what you are asking.

NewBB: Move/Copy posts

One of the things I've noticed happening on GLOAMING.us is that discussions start to drift and eventually we have two or three dsicussions going in the same thread. When that happens, we usually start a new thread and post an announcement in the original thread telling users to post replies to TOPIC X into the new thread. This creates a number of problems: most people reply before reading all of the messages and do no see the announcement until it's too late, some people just plain ignore such announcements, and when people want to reply, they have to go through terrible gyrations to quote from one thread to another.

A much more simple solution from the end-user perspective would be to have an option for moderators/webmasters to "Move/Copy Post and Replies" to a different or new thread. This doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to do.

The company hired a graphic artist friend of mine to do the logo. If you like it and need that kind of work done, he works freelance.

Actually, logo design is part of what our little company does...which is why a really good one catches my eye. I like this one in particular because it's simple but it still gets the basic idea behind the company across. Very nice.

My favorite that we did was for a hair salon called "Wilde Hair." Imagine the possibilities that we went through on THAT one!

Anyway, nice looking site.

Re: Feedback and Suggestions

Nice. Looks a lot like FreeFlo.org. Did you design the logo?

The only thing I noticed was... are you using two different reds for the text?

Compare the red as text labels at the word "Email"

to the headline text in the news item "Sanilac County Democrats Get New Website"

Never noticed that. Actually, the email form is migrated from their old site (which I also designed) and I never really paid attention to the difference in colour code. If I get bored, I'll clean it up. :)

I did note that the logo in the upper left corner "Sanilac County..." over the flag might be improved if the letters "popped" more. But, this is minor, and I'm not sure the benefit of the improvement would be as valuable as the time spent adjusting it. But, if you are looking for things to do, well maybe.

Ya know, I tried to everything I could to make it a little more readable, and that's about the best that it came out. The flag is very busy (why can't we have a nice simple field like other countries? *grin*), so it makes it really hard to put anything over it.

I also looked at GLOAMING.US Really like that theme best of all. Just one problem... the RHS of the page breaks up on my 1600.1250 screen. Calendar mis-aligns, and gray stripes pop out of place.

Yeah, that's a known issue, but really....who operates at that resolution anyway?

:P

Thanks for all the kind words. (To everyone)
