I'm watching for it as well, because it is near final.

Re: Darned search engine from hell keeps loading on Browser

You'll find this interesting>

Spybot as it cycles thru it's list you can see the files info it's looking for. I saw it in the search run "shopnav" Spybot didn't catch it. I'm running the Adaware now. I'd pretty well quit using it, but it's already found 32 files and 4 registry keys missed by Spybot.

Thanks for your response. I hope the Adaware has found it.

Darned search engine from hell keeps loading on Browser

Thought I'd ask if anyone knows how to get rid of this thing.

I don't know where I got it...It says ShopNav. When you go to the site to get rid of it you have to download their uninstaller. Yeah, right uninstall my donuts. No telling what else I'll get.

Here is the link this thing puts up in the address line. Somehow it's picking up info from my last search on Google.

Whatever you do don't click this link you sure don't want it.
//search2.drsnsrch.com/apps/epa/epa?cid=shnv9887&s=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.navy.mil%2Fhomepages%2Fvaw121%2F

I got it off someones site that is an affiliate with these jerks. I'm reluctant to send an Email, because they have a form with required fields asking for my life history.

If you know how to kick this dog outta the house I'd appreciate hearing from you. If you can't tell I'm somewhat annoyed.

It pops up when I get a mis-link or link that isn't working. Instead of the old MSFT screen I get this thing.

Koudanshi may be able to help. Make a posting on the forums at the bbpixel.com.

I gave up on 4images. The XOOPS Gallery and Xcgallery are capable mods.

Theme issues that may affect you...later

Like everyone here I've tried many different themes. I've been excited to acquire some and later excited to be rid of them.

I've gone back to the XOOPS default theme. I now start and do all modifications starting with the default theme. I've got an old copy of Frontpage 2002 and I use the CSS tools in it to alter my style sheets starting with the XOOPS default theme.

Here is what I started to encounter. Mod builders use the default themes for their mods first, that is if they're wanting to assure complete compatibility with Xoops.

When theme builders create their themes separately from the XOOPS default they seem to miss fundamental things within the themes that are addressed within the default XOOPS theme.

The way around this is for theme builders to start with XOOPS default template and carefully work around it to maintain complete compatibility with XOOPS core, third party mods and hacks.

This can be a serious issue as so many new mods are being released, and theme builders just cannot build around all the mods. It is just not possible time wise to keep 100% XOOPS compatibilty and create from scratch a totally unique theme. I should mention there are some theme builders that really know their stuff, but they are the exception.

I've spent days trying to work around theme issues, because I was totally committed to make a certain unique theme workable with my sites. I spent over a week on one recently and then loaded one module with some interesting features. The title lines, headers and everything were a nightmare to configure throughout the site with all the other mods I had installed.

I finally gave up...started over with the XOOPS default theme and modified the CSS (style sheet). It is working well, the site looks great and I can expect every mod I install on the site to be compatible. That's a real relief.

The number of competent new Mods keeps growing. The site content keeps growing, because a lot of these mods add a lot to the users enjoyment of sites. Most of us want to apply those mods to enhance the content of our sites.

The new MyReviews is a great example. There is a long list (appx. 8)of sub-menus available to permissioned users and it really clutters the left column side menu.

I tried the tigra horz drop down menu, but my experience with Javascripts is pretty dismal to say the least. I hate to ask users to turn on Java and alter their browser permissions just to use a site of mine. (not always the case)

It would be great if an XOOPS Drop down Menu mod could be created by the Core team, because then 3rd party mod builders would do work arounds to accomodate the core and we'd get a good mod.

If I smiled less my teeth would quit hurting

I need to minimize my address lines...

I'd like to change the module names to 2 letter designations. I realize I can't change /module/
but I sure need to save some space.

Instead of /xoopsgallery/ or /myweblinks/ or /mydownloads/

An example

www.mydomain.com/xoops/Module/A1/userinfo.php - this is not a working link don't click it.

Thought I'd bump this.

Still waiting and watching for mydownloads that works well with the function to allow upload of 1 graphic file describing download file and 1 file for download.

Submit and approval process is important, along with permission groups.
