Weblog.

It made me decide to use XOOPS over a year ago. If weblog goes, so does Xoops.

We have already got the message that you want to use IPB or vB with XOOPS.

If you could tell what it is in particular you'd like NewBB to have, which it doesn't atm, it would be of much more use.
XOOPS is supposed to distinguish itself from others, which it doesn't by copying other work - but of course, distinguishing itself by being inferiour is not the way to go
So please be more specific.

I understand and agree with your post, but there is a question of standards that we find across many if not all Buletin Systems. All we are asking for is the same amount of flexibility. You can still acheive this by implementing this in unique ways, especially with the power of XOOPS integration, which no other system has.

Cheers

Thanks Richard, this is just the advise I need to get underway! Now I understand the practical side of the solution offered.

My current little "project" is a bit complex when it comes to generating the pages, so I've had a bit of difficulty getting it to work properly. It has it's own self generating archiving system with karma and comments, although they are separate from the XOOPS environment.

Thanks again!

To date there have been no modifications made to include vBulletin with Xoops.

The only way around this is to install phpBB, then use a script to migrate everything from vB to phpBB then use Koudanshi's phpBB module for XOOPS which can be found.

If you attached to vB then this option may not be desirable because of the amount of work involved to be sure everything works. Then you you be forceing your loyal visitors to use a new system, which of course is somehting you would have to decide for yourself.

<div align="right">

</
div>

Essentially, this is what it will look like depending on the version of Flash it was made in, the movie size, and it file structure and name on your server.

You will notice the CAPITAL letters in the above code. This relates to your filenames and directories of your file. Where you do not see .swf added to FILENAME, stays the same. The appropriate filenames WITH extentions were left intact so that you can see what is what when you produce this kind of output through flash.

Now, none of these instructions are needed if you are editing your theme.html file in Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver will allow you to add .swf files as easily as adding an image.

I have seen other ways of doing this, but I don't know how it's acheived. I also know that this doesn't help much, but it may prove to be at least somwhat insightful=.

Good Luck!

Question about those HTML wrappers...

Hi gang!

Ok, I know it's been asked about a dozen times, (ok a million) and I'm sorry for floding (is that a word or a typo?))the forums with repeat questions that I could easily search for (well, not so easily). Testing this scheme in a live environment with every module is equally time consuming, if not more. Anyhow...

I love C-jay content, FreeContent and all those types of goodies. Over the past year and a half these simple to use modules have really grown and matured. It's nice to see continued work with popular mods.

Now heres my question. Of any of these great tools we have at our ready disposal, does any of them offer or allow me the chance to display (traverse) entire subdirectories within directories contained in an XOOPS environment?

To clarify more, say for instance I set up Freecontent to display an .html file. Great it works, however, in order for it (me) to display and use links within the specified .html file, it appears to me at least (from what I saw) that I would have to create, upload and set each subsequesnt file within the first file in the freecontent module itself. As you can well imagine, this task can get very time consuming if I want to show dozen's of pages.

Essentially, to gain more perspective on my round about way of talk, I would like to in essence, display a website (structure) within the XOOPS environment. This way, when a link is pressed it opens within xoops, not outside of it. Keep in mind, I am trying to avoid I-Frames, as this looks sloppy and unprofessional. Will a <?php include> work in this case, or am I just nieve?

I hope you all follow what I'm trying to ask and once again, sorry for the obvious repeat post. Gathing your input in one easy to remember spot is much more desirable for me at 5:30 in the morning when I know I should be sleeping

Hehe, yep. When I was fixing up my theme, I got to thinking about how I could do this sort of modification myself. When I came to the same conclusion that you just posted, I tucked my tail between my legs and ran away yelping. hehe

Based on that however, it may be worth looking into how this part of the system works and making the appropriate modifications. Although I have to admit, for me that would be quite a feat.

/e follows the yelping dog...

It would be an ideal system me thinks

Yeah, I had to rearrange one of the theme.html files so that the center_center block would be on the bottom and not on top. I wanted to have my center_left and center_right blocks on top of the big one that stretched across the table, but it's default was set to below. I wasn't happy with the layout for ages.

I finaly took the plunge and dove right into it and got it looking how I wanted within 20 minutes or so. Now I have my left and right center blocks on the top o fthe page as opposed to the bottom; much better looking for my case.

As mentioned, it would be nice to have a little more flexability in this regard, but I agree on the importance of it from a development standpoint. It's one of those "like to see" as opposed to "must have or fix" scenerios.

At least we have the option of looking into how it works and editing our templates with little ease... I mean if I can do it, a monkey can!

Cheers

Much of the language files that you change will be dependant on the module you are using. For my weBlog, I did quite a number of changes, including how it's named. These changes needed to be done in the /modules/weblog/language/english folder

You can also change the look and feel of how it's displayed by editing the system_redirect.html in your admin/templates section of your site (only after you have copied the default template for editing purposes)

For instance you can click here for a quick demonstration.

Cheers!
