As for DMS, is there somewhere a demo or somebody who is running this module to take a look?
I'd like to see it first before the need of installing.

This issue has indeed come up before and hasn't been solved yet.
I also have tried to solve the problem with htacces, but didn/t work. (jep it needs a separate password which can also be send to others)
Now I've solved it with an 'in between' solution.
I cloned the module Mylinks and have put there the files. Only members have acces to this module.
These files will open within the mylinks setting possibility of a frame. Users will only see the visitlink.
Nevertheless, smart user now that they can look into the sourcecode of the opened page and find the exact url.
If they past this is their browser it will open seperately and can send this link to anyother.
Well for these smart persons........they are lucky and is my bad.

If somebody has a way to solve this, I also would like to know.

Newbbex is an enhanced and php5 compatible simple yet easy forum module. The basic of this forummodule lays in NewBB.
NewBb and Newbbex are the most simple forummodules you can get.
If you don't want categories and subcategories, than just don't create them
If you don't want to use the options, then disable them. You can keep it simple yourself just by creating one forum and disable the extra options.

Sorry, misread your question.
Thought you wanted a login with the use of the emailadress.
Now I read again and see you want the emailadress as a username.
Hm,..don't think this way of public presentation would be much appreciated by the users, considering the amount of spam one will get if the user's emailadress will be public shown as a username.
I for instance won't.

I know for sure after you use the search properly you will find in howto this on that forum. (it has been asked before at that site)
Otherwise, just ask there on the forum.

Some time ago I know the developer Hervé wrote a great article in how you could improve the news module. Don't know if this also included thumbs.
I've looked and searched, but cannot find it. Perhaps somebody else can point you in this direction?
I know this tutorial was a great one. (available in french and english!)

If I am correct these are smartsection blocks.
Have you tried them out and explored them?
Make them visible on your startpage.

There is a great content module already with a combination in what you want:
try smartsection.

WFchannel is a great module if you need a simple effective in between 'article' module.
It fills at least my needs without the need to install a huge module for just a couple of information articles.

Information about cloning smartsection: see developers website. There is a special script for it and many topics on their forum.
