Cheap question but anyway:

You did not only add application/vnd.ms-powerpoint but you did also set the permission to yes for admin or user depending on from which side you are uploading?

Yes I set the permission to yes, but I still get the same error.

I'm trying to add a mime type for powerpoint presentations so users can upload .ppt files.

I tried creating the mime type using:

application/mspowerpoint
application/ms-powerpoint
application/mspowerpnt
application/vnd-mspowerpoint
application/vnd.ms-powerpoint
application/powerpoint
application/x-powerpoint
application/x-mspowerpoint

But I keep getting the following error when trying to upload a .ppt file

Errors Returned While Uploading
MIME type not allowed: application/vnd.ms-powerpoint

Any thoughts?

Weeks? How many Groups do you have?

You should be able to set the Anonymous users group settings to where they can view all the blocks by putting a check mark next to all the blocks for access.

I believe under system admin, there is a 'mail users' option. You can select an entire group to email or PM.

I had the same thing on two of my XOOPS sites today...I thought it seemed strange. Both entrys has www.iqwork.com as the URL. I deleted it immediately on both sites.

My other XOOPS sites were fine.

In your DNS record you should have www.site.com and site.com and you should have a virtual site name set up properly with www.site.com and virtual name site.com then it should not matter. Still depends on how your users are accessing the site site.com or www.site.com because the cookie does not work for both. When you set up website you must be consistent and carefull where to enter www and where you should omit. It's all about DNS records.

My site is setup for both site.com and www.site.com. However I kept getting the same errors, until I made the change like listed above. Not sure why...it just worked.

I had the same problem, even after I did the things recommended by gediminasbyt.

If those suggestions don't work. Check your mainfile.php. At line 39 you should see something like:
define('XOOPS_URL''http://yoursite.com');

add the www.:

define('XOOPS_URL''http://www.yoursite.com');

That fixed it for me...

Does he have a firewall turned on?

If so, check the FAQ:

you could just export the MySQL table as a CVS file. Then you can open it with Excel and mail merge it with your news letter.

Just a thought.
