I'm trying to add a mime type for powerpoint presentations so users can upload .ppt files.

I tried creating the mime type using:

application/mspowerpoint
application/ms-powerpoint
application/mspowerpnt
application/vnd-mspowerpoint
application/vnd.ms-powerpoint
application/powerpoint
application/x-powerpoint
application/x-mspowerpoint

But I keep getting the following error when trying to upload a .ppt file

Errors Returned While Uploading
MIME type not allowed: application/vnd.ms-powerpoint

Any thoughts?

Cheap question but anyway:

You did not only add application/vnd.ms-powerpoint but you did also set the permission to yes for admin or user depending on from which side you are uploading?

Yes I set the permission to yes, but I still get the same error.

I have no problem uploading this file after adding the mimetype.

Here is my definition:

File Extension: ppt
Application Type/Name: powerpoint

Mimetypes: application/vnd.ms-powerpoint
Allowed Admin Mimetype Yes No
Allowed User Mimetype Yes No

In the past i shot myself in the foot when i entered ".ppt" for example as an extension instead of just "ppt". Maybe you did the same?

I deleted the other mime types and kept the one that you had listed and it works. I wonder why the others didn't work?

Thanks for the help I really appriciate it.

I tested it a few more times...

and the issue is that I'm too stupid to read the instructions.

"Enter each mimetype associated with the file extension. Each mimetype must be seperated with a space."

When I did the extendion search I copied and pasted the mimetype from the search results.

The search results had a carriage return after each entry. When I changed it to a space, it worked fine. Now I have all the proper mimetypes for a .ppt file.

Thanks again for the help.
