Hey all!

I'm trying to set up some if else statements for displaying attachments in a thread with CBB.

Essentially, what I am trying to do is allow anonymous users to read the posts, but not see the attachments. I want them to log in to see/access the attachments, but need to let people read the text of the post without being logged in.

So...I thought 'hmmm...maybe I can do it like I do in the theme for the admin menu'.

I have made these changes to the newbb_thread.html and newbb_item.html template files being used, but it isn't working (when viewing the site anonymously, I can still see the attachments).

Quote:

<div class="comText"><{$topic_post.post_text}></div>

// added the next line
<{if !$xoops_isuser}>

<{if $topic_post.post_attachment}>
<div class="comText"><{$topic_post.post_attachment}></div>
<{/if}>

// added the next 2 lines
<{else}>
<div class="comText">Sorry, you must be logged in to see the images.</div>
<{/if}>

<br style="clear:both;" />

Anyone know off hand anywhere else I would need to do this in order for it to work?
Anyone know if there's a reason why the idea wouldn't work?

Any and all help is much appreciated!
(This is CBB3.01 installed in XOOPS 2.0.13.2)

Review this information:
https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2353

If you have changed the names of the fields that monty included, then you only need to change the language defines so that they display the correct info.

If you have added new form elements to the registration form, then you will have to add to the sql files that are included and be sure that the new tables are created in your database before the site will record the information to it. As well as making sure that each page that would call or use those tables has the information added to them as well.

Happy Xoopsing!

How about a response from 'both'

Littleman Hosting (www.littlemanhosting.net) offers everything that you are looking for, and the owner, that'd be me...uses XOOPS as his first choice for CMS installs for clients.

There are two basic hosting packages shown on the site, but if you are looking for something 'custom made' just contact me (here, or there) and let me know what you need.

I offer everything from Full Dedicated servers with Tier 3 connectivity all the way down to simple shared hosting for personal use....with or without c-panel too.

I will keep my personal opinions about powweb and iPowweb to a minimum and simply say "I USED to have a hosting account with them once too!"

Good Luck in your search for a new host! and here's wishing you success with your new web-venture!

from Mowaffak over in the comments under the news article for this mod;

Re: multiMenu 1.8 - final version: when multiMenu goes dy...
Hi,

In multiMenu 1.8 – 16 menus, the name of multimenu from 09 to 16 display as lang varaibles in admin page ( _MI_MULTIMENU_NAME_09 , .... etc )

So you can fix this by edit :
modules/multimenu/language/english/modinfo.php
then replace :
for ($i = 1; $i <= 8; $i++) {
with:
for ($i = 1; $i <= 16; $i++) {

you need to update your module or reinstall it again

perhaps altering the recent topics block will be easier.

thanks peterr and mcleins

I have been through the change log...but am starting to see double now!

So, pterr's report with the actual character differences will help me 'zoom' in on the specific area(s) of code that I'll need to look closer at.

Thanks again!

well....
can you show us what your mainfile is currently showing?

Each host/server is set up differently, so the path you use may need to be altered to match the new hosts set-up.
for instance at host A:
Quote:

// XOOPS Physical Path
// Physical path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
// Example: define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/home/www/mydomain.com');

// This is the same path as you'd see in your ftp app...each host/environment is a little different.

define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/home/www/mydomain.com');

// XOOPS Virtual Path (URL)
// Virtual path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
// Example: define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://www.my domain.com');
define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://www.mydomain.com');

but at host b:
Quote:

// XOOPS Physical Path
// Physical path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
// Example: define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/hsphere/local/home/userid/sub-if-any.domain.com');
define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/hsphere/local/home/userid/sub-if-any.domain.com');

// XOOPS Virtual Path (URL)
// Virtual path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
// Example: define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://my.domain.com');
define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://my.domain.com');

As you can see, these two hosts will not exactly swap across path structure.....

A quick easy way to see what the new host is doing is to install XOOPS into a new folder, and see what it tells you when it prompts you for the directory answers, as it will detect the correct path and initially populate it on it's own.

If this is the correct link for 1RC1, then I can do a compare on the 2 versions, and send a differences report. However, it would be all code, and no documentation as such, at least not the type you need.

thats the right link....
...I sort of expect it to be code of some sort. I do not know enough PHP to identify it on my own, hence the need for the 'working' version. I could then review the code to see if something was inadvertantly left out, or if there is a 'broken' language define with regard to the used functions (this is where I think the problem is)

For instance the scripts seem to jump back and forth between using {$pic.caption} and {$pic.description}...yet in all of the forms, I am unable to see any of the text areas or text input elements labeled as 'description'...only as 'caption'.

That part that is most puzzling is that the smarty tag works on some pages, but does not on others....so, and correct me if I'm wrong, it seems as though there is some function being defined to handle that information in some pages, but not others, or the blocks.

ie:
working HERE

not working HERE

You may also note that in the block at the top of the page, it displays the date of the submission and the user that submitted it, but not the picture title or the caption/description....and on the scrolling block, it shows none of that....also doesn't show in the static thuumbs block.

using meta thumbs block for random pics, and using static tumbs block for the newest photos...

Thanks!
