@m0nty, interesting, but

Quote:
the wf-projects team prefer support issues and requests etc to be made on their website, not because they don't like to come here but mainly because that's the site where they are most active and your request is most likely to be seen and addressed there.

WF-Projects are listed here, in the resporistory, and if someone have troubles with one of their mods, he can click and will be redirected to their homesite.

The same is the situation with BBPixel forums.

What about Russian Top Sites, or Korean Blues Board ?
I cant agree with this local support sites to host the files localy, in this case, first no one (due the nature of XOOPS), will not know which version is last, 2nd who (web administrator) with XOOPS will browse every morning all support site with Google translators, to check what's new and what no.

How Gentoo's community organize all dev teams in one place, there is no support sites, yeah some local sites to promote Gentoo, to give simple answers, but all main discussions for and about Gentoo and his sub projects, comes on the main site. No matter with nationality they are, u have to learn from them, this is the one of the best communities in the net, allways with "smiles" no matter what some angry (l)users says, they are smiley, in Gentoo forums cant see fork from fork.

In your way, XOOPS have to separated to everyone nation, and when u or Solo for example, let's take his multiMenu, current 1.7 but tomorrow will be 1.8. And I as non-official (who gives this title official) support for Bulgarian XOOPERS, have to:
1. to check is the new release is a release or just a note to upcoming release
2. if is release, to go to wolfpackclan site, get it, install it, translate it, and put it localy, only for Bulgarian users and so for all other modules.

If u understand Community created - "Powered by You (XOOPS Slogan)" - You are in great mistake.

@DonXoop, can u explain me what means Chinese version (I was the first one who told that CBB is a fork, few minutes after the news for CBB 1.0 release), after some tests, I replace all my XOOPS sites from NewBB 2.02 to CBB 1.12, no matter is the module is created by Chinese, Koreans, Japanese or whatever Asian, African ppl, the module is a good addition to XOOPS community. With this strange words - "Created for Chinese community" - both of you phppp, donXoop, Mith u scare some ppl, yesterday one of Bulgarian xoopers, ask me for CBB - "How CBB can be converted to work for Bulgarian", and this stupid question comes from there.

This night (searching for words for the japanese fork of XOOPS or something) I found very interesting and good modules (as description, not tested yet), why this modules are not provided from Modules resporsitory ? Or they are created for Japs only ?

The same is the situation with Brasilian mods, Spanish, Russians, all of this sites, have created some times very interesting and usefull mods, but they are not listed here.

Why? Most of the modules described in Modules resporsitory are French and English (authors)...

Or maybe u have to create a block on the top of xoops.org, "here u can find only our (core dev team) modules, for 3rd party modules for xoops, use google"

CBB works fine for me, both in Windows-1251 and Unicode, now I can say that my first post was a mistake, (and I promise never will say it against for other module, before the test). CBB have great improvments and additions to NewBB 2.0.2, why we dont switch to stable, and actively developed CBB, and to stay with dead and bugy NewBB 2.0.2 ?

Also if u wanna prevent some problems with your visitors, I suggest u to edit the charset line in xoops_root/language/english from ISO8859-1 to UTF-8, also to create your translation in Unicode.

Unsure futher development of forum and gallery modules, which are the most important parts of almost every community site, gave me the reason to look for other solutions.

The forum is allready done - CBB 1.10
The gallery too, u have to choose between xcGal 1.1RC forever, XOOPSGallery (not welcomed on Apache 2.0.52), and MyAlbum-P 2.84 (another great chinese work, and in the moment the best solution)

Those recent forking news strikes me again and it's like disaster waiting to happen, when nobody would win and we'll all loose.

From long times ago I was against this forks, but the reality is other, all of this X forks, are sometimes better, sometimes dead, sometimes very very buggy, but all of this forks shows the one thing, everyone who was not heared in XOOPS community and wanna make some improvements to core, security or cosmetic and the "main core" developers not accept it, fork comes in a week, last known looking as catzwolf says for Mambo - "XOOPS have to look like this" is called Ciamos, very buggy but sooner or later will come stable, the same is the situation with Fransico Burzi's Commercial License - officialy there is 10 forks, and over 25 clones, and who wins from that s$%&, no one.

To Shine: What means official support site, who is official and who not, when I'm giving support to Bulgarian XOOPS users, provide translation to them (and not only), am I official support to XOOPS, no I'm not.

And where is the big deal with creating a new forum hardcore devs/pseudo "official" support site, faster dead to XOOPS I can saw with this action. Fresh example is Lunar Linux, check distrowatch.com for the begining of 2004 where Lunar was placed, now there are not exist in the top 100, cos they create the same mistake that u offer. From OpenSource project, to create a close community Bulletin board, is a bigest stupidy can be done ever.

What will be the new name for the next fork ?

U was warned in image manager settings, that once u've selected images to be stored as BLOB in the database cant be switched later to files.

If u wish, u can make separate/new install of XOOPS 2, by the following steps:

1st u have to redownload latest stable 2.0.9.2 (some early releases of this version have serious problems with uploader.php)
2nd to follow the installation instructions from XOOPS 2, and after creating Admin account and before to login for first time.
(sometimes happend of FC4T2, dont know is it reported bug or nope)
go to console mode(ssh) log in as root, restart httpd
go to the second install of XOOPS and check the permissions for the folder upload/, sometimes "smarty" Red Cap resets the permissions to 755, they have to be 777, otherwise u cant upload anything.

than go to XOOPS administration/image manager settings and select storage as files.

this can be done by few modules:
myAlbum 2.84 (Gallery module)
xcGal 1.1 (doesnt have description)
XOOPSGallery 1.3.3.5 not work well with apache 2.0.52/.53 with PHP-Accelerator (the bug still doesnt have sollution and fixes)

Search can be done with Google2 module, u can download it from modules resporsitory.

Counting users sells (posts) is easy , it can be displayed from xmemberstats-2.1 (Malaysia XOOPS Community).

Also u can try the IFramed version of osCommerce, cos the XOOPS Shop will be under construction for a long time, but is not recommended to use it on a production sites.

Google blogger cant be imported (not so sure, but with the existing modules, this cant be done), better c&p everything.

XOOPS is not Mambo, templates are themes, one theme for the whole site, some modules (most of them, not well documented) can be modified thru the module templates to looks different, or to do different things.

When I was browsing the templates

Again, this is not Mambo, the better way to see all Themes in action, is to download XSAS (if u're Win32 user) and to install it over the preloaded XOOPS 2.0.5.
