What are the needs of your website?
I run XOOPS 2.2.3 as well as 2.0.13 on a number of sites, but it depends on what my needs are.
The earlier version is amazingly stable, and will support a lot of the modules right now.
The latest version is still a bit new for all the modules to be updated, and some developers are even waiting for 2.3 before updating their modules. So it really makes a difference which modules you plan to utilize.
I like both, but for different things.

When you installed XOOPS during the installation process, at the end of the installation what username and password did you use? (Don't tell me, just recall).
Use that username and password to sign in.
I'm assuming that you also registered as a user with the name asimona... right?

Have you tried the HTML wrapper modules? That might help constrain your tables...
Are you using a fixed width theme, or flexible?

Have you checked with your hosting company to find out if perhaps they made changes? Perhaps they updated their php, or even implemented some script that may interfere with your site... (that happened to me!)

You may want to check your group permissions.
The block itself may only be set for registered users, even though NEWS is set for everyone.

Hi - I had the same issue with the "No Profile Fields found" thing...
I simply uninstalled the module Extended Profiles and then updated my modules again.
Maybe that would solve your dilemma.

Hi!
The code seems ok... I did something similar and it worked for me... did you remember to change the new page to PHP script when you created the page? (at the bottom before you submit)
As for the navigation issue you talked about...
Install a menu like multimenu or imenu.
Create the page(s) you want to display.
On the new custom menu, add the links to the pages you want.
Make that menu visible only on the page you want it.
That should solve the navigation issue...
