I see what you're saying. It doesn't matter which module I try to download. I'll click the download link and a new window opens displaying the page I was looking at. lol

Anyone who have a webmail module??

I have V-webmail 1.5.0, and I like it much better than SquirrelMail or any of the others I've tried. Unfortunately it isn't ported for Xoops. I had the SquirrelMail module installed on my site and removed it. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't logout of the email account to login to another email account. I have several accounts and would like to switch between them all. SQMail couldn't do that for me.

Richard Heyes, the one who wrote V-webmail, has now released 1.5.1, but it's not free. Any prior versions are free to use. I have the archive of 1.5.0. I think it would make a great module for Xoops. Unfortunately I'm still trying to figure out a few things while making a module. If someone wants a copy to try and port, let me know.

Expanding on the idea: A system admin option of upgrading XOOPS, which automatically connects to XOOPS.org and returns a list of possible upgrades (if any) and when an update is selected, it installs it and updates the system module.

How about that one?

Now that would be SWEET! LOL Stupid me, twice, has downloaded the latest version of XOOPS to update my current version. Here's the problem, I didn't download the patch, I downloaded the full install and uploaded the files, overwriting everything I had. lol my own fault. hehehehe

Have fun!

Form Creation in a Module

I'm not a PHP expert, but I have a good handle on it, I think. Anyways, I'm trying my hand at developing a module and have looked at other modules to see how things are done with XOOPS and Smarty. I've learned quite a bit, however, I'm a little confused at how to make forms. I've created forms in just plain HTML before, but my confusion occurs looking between the .php file and the template .html file. I'm sure it's just a simple thing I'm overlooking, but some help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
Chris

My first obstacle will be finding sources to grab the listings from. I've briefly looked at XMLTV, but it looks like an Perl application you have to install. I want to make this module so you don't have to install extra stuff, especially when a lot of people don't have that kind of access to their servers.

If anyone has any suggesstions or knows of a good source for TV listing feeds, please let me know.

Thanks,
Chris

This module sounds like a great idea to me! I've already started looking for ways to aggregate the data. I started reading up on module development a couple days ago. I'd like to try my hand at developing modules. I can already think of a couple great features to add to a T.V. listing module. Allow the webmaster to only display listings pertaining to certain topics or allow users to search the listings for criteria.

Have fun!

I updated to 2.0.5.1 last Wednesday and mine did the same thing for a couple minutes and then just went away. ??? I haven't seen it since. Who is your web host?

This brings to mind a good idea. When someone registers on sites such as Yahoo, an image is generated containing several characters and the person registering has to type the contents of that image. Perhaps this should (could?) be incorporated into Xoops?

I had to get rid of my e-mail account a couple years ago due to too much SPAM. Since, I have created several accounts. One is for business and personal correspondance, another is for eBay and PayPal, and another is used for signing up with other websites or for mailing lists. I have NOT to this day received any SPAM to my first and second accounts. I trust eBay and PayPal not too SPAM me or give out my address. If, at any time, they betray my trust, believe me, they'll get HELL. There's ways to get back.

Good luck!
Chris
