I switched to XOOPS from another CMS and I was wondering how can I change the dates of news stories to the original posting date of the article?

I am looking at the php.net and the MySQL site as I write this but I am still at a loss as to how XOOPS stores the date information.

Is there any easy way to convert the dates? Is there a simple script I can use to convert the dates?

Thanks in advance....

Yes, I am currently working on the ratings feature for the core.. and should be easily reuseable among modules

Perhaps someone has asked for this already, but one thing I like in the new xoops2 is the common comments functions. I'd like to see something similar when it comes to ratings. So it would be easy to apply ratings to anything on the site, ie. news stories, faq questions, forum posts, etc.

thanks

I'm looking for a inventory management system for my company as well.. I've look through lots of software (on/offline product), database system, web-base solutions and find them all too complicated and have too many features.

It seems nobody want to create simple, task-orientated product and it seems DIY is the ONLY way to go.

I am in my 1st week understanding XOOPS and I have already see it as the main platform which I will use in the development stages for three separate business application.

Thank you XOOPS and all those who develop this great platform.

Oh! Thanks for the quick reply. I had already done that. I was thinking there was some other nifty little thing in the news module .

This is more simple that you really think!

go to the blocks admin

make a custom Center-Center block.

can be html, or automatic, put the title and the content and save.

Later go to admin groups, and set the permission for each group can see this new block and ...... it's all.

What do I have to do to have a welcome message like the block "Welcome to XOOPS official website!" on XOOPS site? I looked in everything under news but i did not find any way of doing that. I know that "News" module is set to display when the site is opened but I could not find anything in News . Is it customization or is available in standard install

I was just helping this guy, with his XOOPS install, and I reckon that if on the front page of this site, we had a BIG RED LINK to a form with certain questions, as follow:

Do you have PHP? Version.
Do you have SQL? Version.
Apache/ISS/Other? Version.
Xoops? Version.
Do you have a DB, with correct name and pass.

Register Globals, on/off?

Xoops URL?
Xoops Path?

Can you see install.php?

Can you see index.php?

Can you loging?

All this form would do, is produce a formatted text page that the person could paste into a messanger software, or their first forum post. No Db at all.

And if you were really clever, you could make it decision tree like, ie, if you cannot see install, it would not bother asking about index.php

Whaddya reckon?
