at my wits end

I have tried icontent: This was good in that I could get my web pages dispayed in the main screen and any links to my other webpages within the webpage displayed caused the new page to load up in the same main screen space with the header bar navigation menu to the left and the footer maintained. The problem i had with icontnet was that I could not control the order of the links in the shortcut menu (which I was using as the sites main navigation tool) and I could not link from within the webpages to pdf files in an easy to understand way (i as told to use the downloads module for this - but I need to keep it within the same module).

So I looked at using wfsections - but this seemed to be very complicated and was for posting articles - not for creating webpages.

I tried Tiny Content and Tiny D but could not figure out how to get the pages to display as in icontent (explained above - where a link to another of my webpages that was in the page displayed in the main part of the screen - caused te new page to display with the header bar, nav bar (shortcuts menu block) and footer to be maintained).

Can anyone help - either inform me as to how to control the order of the linkd in icontents shortcut menu and how to link to pdf documents within the icontent webpages.

or

tell me how to get tiny content pages to link to other tincontent pages and get them to load up within the same default screen - not a new window that isn't controlled by any templates or css.

I really hope someone understands one of my problems. Otherwise I will go round the bend.

Have you tried wf-channel? It's what I used for the ALl about XOOPS section here. It's really simple, and you can order your pages.

[edit] sorry yellowchimp ... I just tried to find a link for multimenu and I saw another thread from you , seems like you already saw multimen. The below comments wont apply then

Yellowchimp, there is another way to go here ... Use whatever content module you like and set all its atributes to invisible (that means a '0' in the module page also) This way you can make pages with content, but no user links to them on your site.

NOW, install a module called MULTIMENU It allows you to create up to 4 discreet menus and add your own links, in any order, with any name, from anywhere on your site. You can even choose a target for the pages. Of course they all display within the XOOPS frame.

You will need to record the correct URls for each page in your content modules that you need to display. But that's it, you have total control of your menu, including permissions access.

thanks Richard

I think there must be something wrong with something somewhere because I don't think I get mylinks from multlimenu showing up within the XOOPS frame. Do you know how I could fix that?

with regards to wf-channel - i am coming across the same problem as I did with tiny content and TinyD. My pages can't link to other pages. I have a page displayed in the main window and somewhere in that page I have a link to another page - when I click on the link - I get a page cannot be displayed type error. Does anyone know if this can be fixed or if there is a way around it.

Are there spaces in the links? If so, place '%20' (without the quotes) in the spaces of the links. For example

http://www.mysite.com/folder of stuff/document1.doc

should be

http://www.mysite.com/folder%20of%20stuff/document1.doc

This is because of encoding and a lot of the time, hyperlinks won't work if the paths have spaces in them. Give it a try. It might work.
