Hi! Sorry, I send the last post about this to the wrong forum. Btw,... the field "bio" in xoops_users table is so short, why not change "tinytext" to "text" in the core? Ok, I know, is not a "bug", is a characteristic... but this could not be modified in core? Why not? Thanks in advance for any information!

Yes I turned debugging on and 27 queries are executed in 3.8087469339371 seconds.What do you think? Actually every user complains about the top page loading in more than 20 seconds:(

The images are all in GIF and not so big in size (5-6 kb max-Is this too much?), but even so I'll resize them.

I looked at Nautis's theme, and yes, it is light and very fast!!Is it available for download? I searched the XOOPS Site, but couldn't find it..Does anyone know where I can get it?

Getting variables from url for use in a block ?!?

Hi,

I cannot seem to get the variables from the url into the block code. The following is an extract of a custom block. The rest of the block code is working fine.

Quote:

function b_destblocks_show($options) {
global $xoopsDB;
if (isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['locdestid'])) {
$locdestid = intval($HTTP_GET_VARS['locdestid']);
}
...
}

The url I enter is for example:
http://www.worldtravelpublishers.com/modules/testlinks/location.php?locdestid=2

I cannot get the variable for locdestid out of the url for use in the code.

Does anyone have an idea of how to do this?

Thanks,

Martijn

Today I will work to get this solution on my site. I will change code from [nederlands]/[english] to [nl][ee]if that's not enough I will change the title length in the blocks administration.

I have a question, with a fresh install only on the main screen I get this about notification options:
Notification Options
Category Events
Global Notify me when a new topic is created.
Notify me when any new story is submitted (awaiting approval).
Notify me when any new story is posted.

and it will not go away, how do you make it go away, its under the news. Also how do you make more then one parner appear on the block, it only show one at a time and want more...

I don't think it's your theme causing your slow loading times. From what I've found, XOOPS site load times come back to three main factors;

1 - Fast & fat connection to Internet with an ISP hooked directly into the main Internet backbone.

2 - Fast server to serve web server, process PHP scripts and do requested queries on your MySQL database.

3 - Streamline the amount of content/images loaded on site as much as possible. From what I saw of your site there were probably 10 or so images on the main screen, of which some where quite hefty in size.

I've been having the same problem on my site to a lesser extent, and have so far things seem to be pointing toward a server upgrade. My suggestion would be to go into system admin -> preferences -> general preferences and enable Block/MySQL debugging and just see exactly how many queries are being run on your server on each site load, and also what the execution time is.
