Xortify Song

Xortify Song
by Binary Corpse
Creative Commons License

My Friend Ben Reid from Binary Corpse was amuzing himself about the bans listed on xortify twitter account. He decided while working on the XOOPS Song as you requested all hardcore with metally bit in geek metal, we would also make the XOOPS Song a film clip.

These are typical westcoast american hardcore style songs which only normally go for a minute forty, this is a minute fifthy and is 4Mb MP3 layer codec.

We will have the New XOOPS Song out soon with geeky style hardcore and a film clip featuring open source and hot dogs and garnet lane.

But when it is all finished you will be able to download the soundtrack an film clip from the binary area of Chronolabs, or watch on youtube.

Listen:

Download:
* xortify.mp3 - 4Mbs

Xortify was recently featured in the SecurityBananas tabloit as the greatest thing in cloud security at that time for a twitter news paper which are all the rage these days.

About XOOPS 2.5 Releases and Security Issues

As you have known, the XOOPS 2.5 series is focused on usability improvements based on XOOPS 2.3 and 2.4 releases.
In 2.5 releases the system module is updated with some very good experimental improvements. Unavoidably there are backward and forward compability issues and security weakness are introduced and the development team is continuously improving it.

Module developers are encouraged to check some of the new features and improvements in 2.5 but are advised to be careful with implementing new APIs and functionality in their modules for potential compatibility concerns, like admin menus and mainfile/secure.php change.

Updated: in order to avoid compatibility issue, if your modules work okay with 2.5, keep your modules and don't implement the 2.5-only features in a hurry. More details will be coming.

In terms of security issues, it has always been on top of the development team priority list. Security weakness in XOOPS 2.5 is being fixed and you should not worry about it.
One thing need to mention in particular though, there were LFI vulnerabilities reported since April 5th for XOOPS 2.5.0 and it was confirmed invalid after a thorough investigation by the development team. We will continue to improve XOOPS security in next release.

There are two bugs reported for module admin and custom block admin. Thank tatane, mr-reda04_fr, aitor, etc., they have been fixed in SVN and you can download the files directly from Sourceforge repository.

You might want to check for frequent development updates by following us on Twitter.
We look forward to your feedback and get XOOPS 2.5 secure and reliable.

"April's Afterthought" for XOOPS & HTML template (commercial item)

April's Afterthought After "The Bind Blog" was released, I saw something else in the big lines of that design and it made perfect sense to release a new theme based on the same idea. "April Afterthought" is a 2 columns theme for XOOPS. The archive also includes the HTML source which can be used to port the template to other systems. HERE you can view the theme installed on XOOPS 2.5 Members can login and download from HERE The design is perfect for blog sites and generally websites that focus on article publishing. It contains 5 color styles (not available in demo), its structure is based on a fixed width tableless design. You can read all about it HERE

Converting old modules to XOOPS 2.5.0 GUI: Tutorial

We've talked in the past about releasing updated “XOOPS Module Packs” for our users, focusing on some basic functionalities of the Website, e.g. Personal Website Pack, Community Website Pack, etc.

We are now working on a “XOOPS Basic Module Packs” and our goal is to modify existing modules so all of them have the same consistent GUI and thus increase the user productivity, especially for the first-time users.

Originally we took the GUI idea from the TDM Team's modules, but while we were working on implementing it, Mage came up with a ModuleAdmin class that generates the whole Admin GUI based solely on the Menu definitions in /admin/menu.php and data in xoops_version.php file - see the simplified diagram:

Resized Image

In order to make it easier for other developers to convert their module to this new GUI utilizing Mage's ModuleAdmin class, I've created a set of files helping with this conversion, and a short tutorial showing how to convert xDirectory (you can download the converted module here).

Files:

1) Tutorial as PDF file: view it here

2) Conversion Files incl. Tutorial as Zip file: download it here

NOTE:

a) This is just a 1st Draft of the Tutorial, so your feedback and improvement suggestions are appreciated. Please help us to make it simple and easy to read and follow.

b) Please also let us know any ideas/suggestions that you might have about improving the Module GUI:

- beginners and first-time XOOPS users: how can we make the GUI simpler and more user friendly for you?

- experienced module developers: how can we make it better? Is this ModuleAdmin class making module development easier for you?

Please discuss the GUI and the Tutorial in this thread.

Alumni 3.01 RC Released

Alumni 3.01 RC Released

Resized Image

I have released version 3.01 RC of the Alumni Module.
This release is for Xoops versions 2.3.3b and up.

I also added the new ModuleAdmin Class by mage, but in my modules I made it so if you are not using Xoops 2.5.0 it will use the standard Xoops GUI.

Changed the search so you can now search by Category/School.

Edited search results page layout.

ADDED showing 1-5 OF X on the first search results page, if there are more than one page.

Broke down the index page. Now there is an index page, a categories page, and a listing page.
The URL's are different. (EX. listing.php?lid=1)

Improved sorting listings

Added notifications

You can now put adsense code or Xoops banner in your listings. on index page and category page.

Tested on:

XOOPS 2.4.4
XOOPS 2.3.3b
XOOPS 2.5.0

Servers:

PHP Version 5.3.6
mySQL Version 5.1.55
Server API apache2handler

and
