I'm looking for a module or some kind of hack that would assign registered users a membership number. Is there any recommendations?

Its not based on fee's or due's, so I dont need anything complex that has to do with invoices and such. I just want to simply assign each new registered member a number and then be able to view the member listing sorted by membership order.

At some point I want to send users a "membership card" that will have thier name and member number.

What's wrong with the user ID? Each user has a unique ID, which the system uses to identify an account. Mine here is 601...

I knew there was something already in place, just couldnt remember where I'd seen it. Where is it listed and I guess secondly, how can I display my members with just username and number on a page?

n01un0,
Is it the Steelers site that you're referring to? Why not open up the xmmemberstats to the public and use that page? It would take a bit of editing but you could edit the index.php if you wanted to only show names/link.
You could also use the search and provide a link to the results like this:
/modules/profile/search.php?uname_match=0&uname=&name_match=0&name=%25&email_match=0&email=&sortby=name&order=0&limit=100&submit=Submit&skipValidationJS=0&op=results

As to how to get the user id# to show, I don't have the time right now to figure that out - but perhaps someone else here can help with that.
