I am currently using xcgallery and wish to batch add a load of pics oh am using gd version 2 and when I finish uploading the pictures to the server and then go into batch add pictures they all come up not all ticked and all of them state there unreadable or unknown file name but they are exactly the same pictures I had on the site before i lost the site nothing has changed with the filenames. I have chmodded 777 to albums and userpics and the folder 10001 and also in preferences in xcgallery admin i have set permissions there to 0777 but yet it does not recognise the pictures Oh there all jpg pictures there are no gif images as yet my site or gd version 2 does not support gif images

cheers

You've done everything correct, except when you batch add your files, the folders you actually uploaded to '/what/ever/folder' needs to be chmod 777 as well.

Just to let you know, it will only add 15 images at a time. Just go back to batch add, and the images that havn't been added to the DB yet will be checked, while the images that are added will not be checked. I discovered this when adding some 50 pictures one day.

Good luck!

Yes the folder i uploaded to is chmodded to 777 but yet there all classed as unknown. does it matter that i uploaded 300 pics in one go and only select 15 of them at a time??? There all still file unknown not showing up

Make sure they are dumped in xcgal/albums/userpics/

The name you gave your folder /should/ appear in the list.

It doesn't matter how many images you upload at one time. The batch process will only add, then create 15 thumbs in the same directory at any given time. I'm sure you can increase this, but you would reach a timeout on the creation of your new thumbs, etc.

Thaanks stewdio but i have already done exactly what you told me this is why i am totally confused they come up under the right folder in the admin panel album/userpics/10001 but all the pics are unknown or not readable I have checked that i have chmodded them accordinly to 777 both in ftp client and in xcgallery admin panel. I ave done exactly what i did before and before it worked but not this time.

Basically I am that fed up with trying I am thinking of giving XOOPS gallery a go if i cannot get this fixed.

Kiwiguy

Just a thought - in the XCGallery config options there is a field "Accepted file extensions for uploaded pictures" Is JPEG/JPG whatever you are using listed there ?

Also, have you tried using GD 1 ? I discovered yesterday my server doesn't support GD 2 and it was causing some problems. XOOPS gallery is quite good - very nice on the admin side.

Yeah mate i have tried both gd library 1 and 2 and yes in the preferences i have name all file types to accept. I am still stuck I tried xoopsgallery and it seems to not be able to locate netpbm and imagemagik is too dam confusing to even contemplate installing it i would not know where to start on installing it let alone knowing if i got the right one to install.

cheers
