I need multiple "news" modules. Preferably with a wsywig as the users are not web designers. I'm setting up a site for some RC Racers. We need seperate modules. One for news and announcements, another to post race results. We wish the News and announcements to be on the homepage of the site and for the race results to be a seperate module. I would like to install a WYSWIG editor for these articles as the users do not know even basic HTML so while I am looking for one I thought I would post here as more experienced members may be able cut to the chase for me.

I'm new to XOOPS but not to CMS setups. I've installed many hacks to nuke and such but I'm still learning the ins and outs of Xoops.

Any time anyone can save me will be well appritiated.

Hi,

Why don't you use the new version (1.2) of the news module ?
Just create different topics (categories) and assign the correct permissions. You can find the latest version here :

Bye,
Hervé

Hmm I see where you can limit topics that can be seen by membership level but not where I can dictate what can be seen on the index page. I've been through all 4 pages of settings for this module and I've not found where I can set what topics appear where. I'm still looking though. I'll also look into the "Stories" module.

You can also try iContent for your race results. WYSIWYG only works on IE browsers though.

Regarding this, a nice addition to the news module, would be to be able to specify Categories that are NOT displayed on the front page, or the category list, or the recent news...

Then you could use those categories separately, almost as a new module....

Easy to do as well

This is already in the tracker.

That would be good. At risk of looking foolish I'm brand new to XOOPS and the posting options already integrated into both the news and stories modules are sufficient for our needs in this case and the stories module satisfies the race results window. Now to just get the News articles to show on the home page not just links but I figure I'll find that somewhere shortly.

Yep all set thanks for the help
