After i have installed XOOPS i get a blank page and after i used the debug information, this is what it showed:

Notice: Undefined variable: xoopsConfig in D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\xoops\header.php on line 29

Notice: Use of undefined constant XOOPS_THEME_PATH - assumed 'XOOPS_THEME_PATH' in D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\xoops\header.php on line 29

Notice: Undefined variable: xoopsConfig in D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\xoops\header.php on line 29

I hava another problem, in another host i have installed XOOPS without no problems, but after some time the System module link has vanished, but i can access it by using the path name. the installed modules that i have are Forum, Tutorials and (System).

You might check your install to see if your themes are in place.

Hey tray5753:

You obviously using IIS so maybe you have some problems with your permissions. Did you give write permissions to the cache, template_c and upload folders?

Please inspect your mainfile.php because this file should also have write permissions when installing Xoops.

Did you already try to access the groups and different XOOPS permissions and update them, even if your not changed anything. This will rewrite the adminmenu [/cache/adminmenu.php].

Is Apache scary to install? I've got the stand alone version XOOPS running (Xsas), but would like to stick it on an intranet not currently running Apache + gubbins. Is this possible?

I also use Frontpage 2003 to upload to my remote server, is there any way I can use this to change the permission to prevent the mainfile.php being writable by the server, or do I have to do some funky ftp stuff?

Cheers
Jools

File permissions on a Windows based server must be done via the Windows Explorer & can not be modified via FTP or Frontpage. Some web hosts will provide a control panel that will allow you to change permissions.

Thanks, sadly my Host needs to do this form me as there are some problems apparently with using Windows Explorer and a Cobalt server.

I have asked my webhost to do this for me.

Thanks for the help.
