yeh i tried that, i wrote something in a notepad
and then called it index.html
then i uploaded it with FTP and it put it inside the public_html folder.

then when i tested by my site with the temporary url
it says:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /~safclan/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/1.3.29 Server at localhost.localdomain Port 80

Although surpasshosting sent me an email saying that
i need to enable to viewing of my directory, and had
it on the 'hidden' settings so no one can see, not even me what is on the site.
He also said something about WHM, ?

Max 100 ,
Dont think your problem has any thing to do with XOOPS at this stage if you carnt get a index.html page to display .

I think you should be asking these questions at surpasshosting for memory they have a forum there .

Did they give you a link for a C-Panel or webHost manger.

hi max100,

You do in fact need a mySQL database with Administrative rights to install XOOPS. You have to have the following info:

Database Host
Database Port (not really required but helpful)
Database Name
Admin User Name
Admin Password

If you can't access CPanel to see any of this, you might need to contact your hosting provider for technical support.

During the install you can opt for XOOPS to create the database if your host allows it, you need do need your connection details.

Max, Herko spent a long time writing out specific instructions for you, perhaps you forgot. You even said "My Hero"

Here:

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=18989&forum=3#forumpost81178

Why won't you allow someone to do it for you? You can change your password etc again later. Your host would do it for you if you post in their forums too..

Can I get someone to do it for me!
thats great.. i need a trust worthy person, i say CBlue since he is a guy from XOOPS team. (not that i dont trust you jackl. lol.)

um, about making a database..
do i have to have one pre-installed before i even upload XOOPS with FTP and expect it to work?

p.s. you have to understand that if herko's guide worked then i would not be here asking quesions, thats basic human logic, isn't it?

Cblue is a Lady, and you will need to ask her politely..
