I don't see any themes, nor a method to set them. How do you set/change the default theme for users?

system admin-->preferences-->general settings

Look for "default theme". This box shows the themes that have been uploaded to the "themes" folder.

Additionally, you'll need to know where the gzip file is and upload it through the interface.

I also had to add a gzip file directly into the XOOPS control panel, and then manually create some lists for my content for the look to completely take over.

Yes, but that is for "Templates", he wants to know how to set a default theme for users. Most themes just use the default XOOPS "template".

Some downloadable themes come with their own "template" file, (tar.gz/.tar file) which are uploaded through system--> admin --> templates.

Xoops has one template tar file for the "x2t" theme in the "extras" folder
