Lykos Blocks 1.2

This is a complete rewrite of the code, maintaining all features, fixing certain bigs, and adding a few requested features also.

This contains the following blocks:
- x most recent articles in a given category
- x most read articles in a given category

----==== Requirement ====----

Xoops 2.05 or Greater

----==== Installing ====----

1. Upload the folder inside the zip to the XOOPS modules folder.
2. Login to your site as Admin, go Admin -> Modules, install Lykos Blocks.
3. Look for the blocks in Admin->Blocks.

----==== Upgrading ====----

1. You should uninstall and delete all files from any previous version.
2. Follow the instructions for installation above.

----==== Bugs/Features ====----

Fixed bugs in recent articles block that would only show 1 article.
Added new features found in standard 2.05 news block.
Changed category entry to a drop down menu.
Added smarty support to stats block.

----==== To Do ====----

Category block for mylinks and mydownloads?
Admin for stats, enabling module selection
Dynamic xoops_version.php to cater for multiple identical blocks

Chapi, for the spankingly good new logo
Henessy , for valuable input

News blocks adapted from blocks in News Module, XOOPS 2.05

Available fromhttp://lykoszine.sourceforge.net [no registration needed] or here at xoops.org when I can be bothered to add it to the DL section

Exactly what does this Mod do?

I find it frustrating that the vast majority of Mods have no/poor descriptions of what they do EXACTLY.

Would you be kind enough to give a description clear enoughy so that even noobs like me can comprehend?

Thanks

Max

Does this include articles submitted in categories within the special sections module/bliock like these?
http://www.politicsforum.com/home/modules/sections/

If not, can you add it so it shows those as well please?

oh great this forgoes my "recent news block by topic" tutorial I was about to write...which implements cloning/moding of recent topics block.

This module here, in theory would be a much cleaner package!

how 'bout Add this to do?

Recent FORUM BLOCK by Forum TOPIC.

hehe, I know seems silly to have but in our case it would be useful for we have at least one forum topic that changes often and gets buried in the recent topics list....

I'd be willing to help too if need be, given all I've learned of late!

Great block, Lykoszine.

One small problem to note in the stats block... it's repeating a number of stats. Here's what it reads:

Quote:

Items Hits
Mylinks 34 592
Mylinks 34 592
News 20 997
News 20 997
News 20 997

I'm running latest XOOPS 2.0.5.1

Hightyde,

The obvious questions is, are you running any cloned modules? Can I see this in action? Have you tried simply updating the Lykos Blocks Module?

vB3Dev,

I *could* add sections to this, but would be more likely to add wfsections, as this is what most people use. I'll get back to you.

DobePhat,

I have not played around with the forum module much. Do you want to give the block a go, and I'll give you a hand if needed? I'll then include it in the module, credited to you of course. pm me if interested.

Big_Bro, cheers for the good words...

Ooooh, iw would be so awsome if you did add the "sections" to it and I hope you do cause that would make it simply complete...and I need it badly

Honestly, I don't see of what use the wfsections module is, at least its not obvious to me since I have no use for it at all.

Please keep me posted if you do add the sections to it.
If you look at PoliticsForum.Com you can see it is badly needed.
