All depends on what you want to do. If you are permanently banned then you need to go around protector and access your database and lib files, or you can wait till the time expires for the ban.

What you need to alter is a file located in your xoops_lib directory and a row or more in your database.

In your database locate the table {xoops_table_prefix}_protector_access and remove all rows that have your IP listed.

You will also need to remove the ip listed in the file located /xoops_lib/modules/protector/configs/badipsdb

This is at least how I unbanned myself from my test site.

In Protector its preferences is also a setting for not banning the admin group.

most of the settings are in default.

my xoops site is in a subdomain.

http://forum.mysite.com

and i tried to login through http://www.forum.mysite.com

and it worked! but every links are still without the www.

i managed to disable protector and clear off the banned ip list.
but still the problem persist.

most users are still banned.

I reset my IP address and i managed to get it, but after several page view, I get banned again.

this is funny. any hints?

If you are using safari or chrome try another browser protector gets tripped up by the prefetching that those browsers do.

Obviously you'll have to clear protectors DB bad IP's first.

Check the cause in the Protector log.
Sometimes some modules can provoke it also, eg albums.
In the preferences there is a setting to exclude some modules.

I hate it when that happens.

Log on using another IP address and clear your IP address from protectors list.

OK... i realy need some help on this one.

I actually get:
This account is disabled for your IP by Protector.
Clear cookie if you want to access this site as a guest.

after i upgraded to the last version, and playing a bit around with the login module, i managed to get banned

now... i have access to ftp, where i could find the file mentioned above, but if i log in the hoster in phpMyadmin, the only database i see has only one table with no relation to xoops

i'm the only registered with access to this module so i can't even disableit.

any ideeas?

Have you tried disabling protector in the database?

There is a setting in protector that will turn it off. This is separate from disabling the module.

I have actually had to do this myself to turn off protector when I was modifying stuff. You MUST turn off protector on any site you are working on modules or templates while you are working on them.

But then again you should be modifying your local copy and not your live copy and then upload when your done with it..

But even then you may have to turn off protector while in the process...
