Which module did you pick (link)?
Maybe it is one of the older ones?
Did you try this one?

ghia,

I don't know which version Botats is using but the one you reference above still uses HTTP_GET_VARS and HTTP_POST_VARS so the module would need to be updated to work with PHP5...

Botats - this is also the most likely cause of the problem you're seeing.

Oops, I was thinking he used the original one from 2004, where you most likely got these deprecated PHP calls and therefore I provided the link to the updated version of 2008, assuming that there it was already updated, but I did not verify what was inside.

Thanks for replying. I am a bit of a newbie so please bear with me.

GHA, do I just install the version link you recommended? Will it automatically update the version I have now (same directory etc)? Will it keep all the quotes I have now or do I start from scratch? Is there there anything I need to do once I install this version?

Thanks again for your patience.

As zyspec remarked my quote module contains old PHP code and will not work out of the box. I recommendeded it because I tought you did a new install and your module did not work and you have probably an outdated version.

But your module did function before, as you have already quotes etc.
Do you have the link where you downloaded it?

What did you alter on your system that it stopped working?

XOOPS, PHP, MySQL version?

Actually nothing was altered when it stopped working . To be really accurate it still shows all the old quotes, I just can't add or delete. Other than that it works like a charm.

I am not a techie person, I know enough to get by and run my site, the site was built by someone else. It is not the only thing that has stopped working - my picture module will not let me format pictures me without having to use HTML. Definitely a bit tedious. That said, I thought the quote situation was a good place to start. The version of XOOP is 2.0.13.2.

I did install the module above, client quotes, but it too won't let me add quotes. Everything did seem to install properly, so I am obviously missing a step. Sorry for rambling. Any help is really appreciated.

Maybe your hoster did make a change or moved you to another server.
But first we need to know which module you have exactly.
Can you copy the info bloc of the module in module managment or the first section of xoops_version.php (author, version, etc)

I suspect that your hosting company upgraded to PHP5...

Try the following:

1) Make a backup of your site and database.
2) Replace $HTTP_GET_VARS with $_GET and $HTTP_POST_VARS with $_POST in every file (there aren't that many in this module).

I believe this will solve the problem you're seeing - I've seen a similar problem in other installations.

I will wait to see your responses for any additional tips (please remember I am not a techie) and then try the fix above over the next few days and let you know.

Thanks again for helping.
