smart language doesn't function anymore and all the page is showing all the codes that is been inserted!!!

SmartLanguage was a hack developed for a particular XOOPS version, so normally it wouldn't work in the next version.

It's better to switch to xLanguage or to The Easiest Multi-Language Hack (EMLH)

I also misinterpreted "copy the contents of htdocs" instruction and copied the folder itself. (Yes, I'm a native English speaker.)

Perhaps the release notes should have a sentence clarifying that users should "upload the elements found in the local htdocs directory on top of those same elements as they exist in the XOOPS root on the server."

I understand the difference between a folder and its contents, but I still think others have made the same mistakes. When I googled the error message I saw:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: enablerendering() in .../xoops/htdocs/upgrade/index.php on line 26

Many of the hits came from a few other sites that apparently were stuck at the same place I was.

Re: upgrading problem

Could someone assist me with upgrading my site please. I have searched and read and still I am stuck. I am not a coder.

I have uploaded my XOOPS site unto a new server, imported the sql database, made the changes needed in mainfile.php, then I followed the instructions for the upgraded process for 2.2* to 2.3.3. I have php5 on the new server.

Now, when I point my site to mysite/upgrade I receive this error
Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass::enableRendering() in /.....

When I attempt to access mysite/xoops folder, it is completely blank.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: upgrading problem

When you use your ftp software to look at what's on your server, do you see all the files in mysite/upgrade?

Did you run the file check (see release notes)?

Re: upgrading problem

I did find a problem, the XOOPS package I had was missing many files. I am now correcting this and running the upgrade process again. I'll see how it goes

Re: upgrading problem

xoops_lib and xoops_data: can you tell me where exactly I should put these files. We are told to move them from the root of our XOOPS site, I did and the error message is still there.

it is now in home/content/html/xoops_lib

xoops site - home/content/html/xoops site

------------
Also I copy/pasted the mainfile.php, header, footer and index to home/content/html

and get this error. this is only occurring since I updated to the new version of xoops. I did not yet install the protector mod
