I think the path is okay. If I try opening admin.php from a browser, I don't get an error message about connecting to the database, there is just nothing there to administrate.

I looked at my database with phpMyAdmin and clicked on the xoops_modules table it showed the following error:

#1034 - Incorrect key file for table 'xoops_modules'; try to repair it

Also, when I look at the shart of all my tables, 'xoops_modules' as well as a number of others are listed as "in use" in the Collation column.

Here's a screenshot from phpMyAdmin:

Is that normal?

Does that mean I got hacked?

It's strange but it happened to three sites at once. It sounds like a mailcious bot of some kind.

All modules report "does not exist"

I am running a few sites that use 2.3.2 and a few days ago, they all went more or less blank. The themes are still there, but the content is gone.

For example:

http://www.chslax.com
http://www.evlax.com

I have not made any changes to them.

If I try to access a link to a module directly I get:

"Selected module does not exist"

For example:

http://www.chslax.com/modules/piCal/index.php

I can still bring up my user info at ../user.php
I looked at the source code, but it is unchanged and the modules are still there.

There is no error reported about not being able to access the database.

I have one old site that uses Xoops 2.2.x or 2.0.x and it looks the same as it did before.

Does anyone know what could be the cause? Have I been hacked or did my hosting service (Dreamhost.com) do something bad?

Thanks,
Dave ...

I also misinterpreted "copy the contents of htdocs" instruction and copied the folder itself. (Yes, I'm a native English speaker.)

Perhaps the release notes should have a sentence clarifying that users should "upload the elements found in the local htdocs directory on top of those same elements as they exist in the XOOPS root on the server."

I understand the difference between a folder and its contents, but I still think others have made the same mistakes. When I googled the error message I saw:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: enablerendering() in .../xoops/htdocs/upgrade/index.php on line 26

Many of the hits came from a few other sites that apparently were stuck at the same place I was.

No "Upload File" field in PDdownloads/submit.php

I am using PDDownloads 1.2, but I tried 1.0 and saw the same bug. When I go to the submit.php page to submit a new upload, I get the "Submit" form that looks like the one from PDLinks.

Specifically, there is no box that says "Upload File" with the "Browse..." button. Everything else seems normal. The permissions, categories everything else is okay. However, without the "Upload File" I have no way of uploading anything.

If I go into the admin panel, and click on "Create a New Download", the "Upload File" field appears in the normal place. I am trying to make this feature available to some non-techie users so I would prefer to stay out of the admin panel.

I have another site that is set up virtually identically, but the bug does not appear.

Has anyone seen this bug or have any idea how I can hack or workaround it?

Thanks,
Dave ...

I would really like to see the polls be set up so that anonymous user could see the polls, but not vote. It's a great way to get people to be motivated to register. Thanks!

How do I keep my favorite icon showing up in the web browser's address bar?

I tried putting a file called favicon.ico into my DocumentRoot and also in my XOOPS root (which are different right now.) It look like when I browse to my DocumentRoot and the XOOPS administration menu, I get my icon. When I look at my XOOPS pages, I get the generic XOOPS "X." I don't want that.

I have a slightly different need, but I think it might be a common one. What I would like is a module that allows you to store a list of locations. For example, if you were running a youth soccer league, you could list all the parks where the games are held and it would draw a map to that site. Optionally, custom driving directions (text) could be written (e.g. "We use the field behind the school, not the one by the parking lot."). I tried doing this with the standard addresses module, but it was clunky. I had to generate the map, copy the link, etc. I want users to be able to submit the name and the address and the module will get the map.

Thanks.

Thank goodness for this post. You just saved me so much time! I had the exact problem. I knew my MySQL installation was okay, but I was getting this blank screen also.
