I am using the normal news module with XOOPS 2.0.10.
This just started happening after moving the site to a new server. The new server as far as I know has the same php, MySQL and apache as the previous server. This may not be the case but that is what I am told.

Anybody?

Re: apostrophe displays as ’

This happened to me once when migrating a MySQL db, I didn't really look into why as there was not so much content on the site at the time, so I didn't have to change too much. Maybe you could do a find and replace on the sql code, if you don't find another solution.

@Bluenova Thanks for the suggestion.

As it turns out it is most likely the following:

"found the issue, posting here for the next person.

my httpd.conf (apache2) came with UTF8 encoding, I changed it back to
AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1

fixed it"
From the thread:

This thread

I have made the changes, now we'll see if it works.

FYI everyone:

I changed it back to AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1. It worked!

I have the same problem... But unfortunately I do not understand how you corrected the problem...

Any chance you could help me by doing a step by step solution. Keep in mind I did not install the back end, this was pre done by Godaddy for me.

my httpd.conf (apache2) came with UTF8 encoding, I changed it back to
AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1

Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm I am running IIS but maybe this will still work for you.

Change your MySQL character set to latin1 in the Server Instance Wizard.

Well I guess i have to higher someone to help me as all of this is cryptic to me....

To bad that I just don't get it.

I need basically a lot of hand holding here... Or even a online location to let me learn where the MySQL character set or the Server Instance Wizard is?

Here are the sort of instructions that I would need to get me going.

1. Login to Godaddy
2. Go to Hosting control panel
3. Select MySQL Database
4. ???????
5. ???????
6. ???????

Anyone want to make a quick buck to do one (from what I can tell) quick and easy task?
