I use a web host that tries to stay up to date on new versions of add-ons. They said I didn't have the lastest version XOOPS and I should upgrade which I did. My site has disappeared. This couldn't have happen at a worst time because my students are attempting to download their next 8 homework assigments. I tried to login to the admin area of my site, but I received an error that I was not authorized then directed me to the user.php but there was nothing on the page.

I received these instructions from my host after the installation:

Please save following information. You will need it in order to

restore if something went wrong

If you don't have SSH access, ask support to help you:
- delete all the files listed in

/home/retjava/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
- delete /home/retjava/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
- Untar /home/retjava/fantastico_backups/.backup.1160190568.tgz
- Empty the database retjava_xoop1
- Import the file /home/retjava/fantastico_backups//backup.sql into

the database retjava_xoop1
- Move /home/retjava/fantastico_backups/ to /home/retjava/public_html

I don't know what to do. My host is located in England it's like 3:19 am there. Help. I just need to get into the admin section and update the modules or restore the back up, but I don't know how to do that based on these instructions and the customer support people are not responding.

Please help.

what versiosn did u upgrade from?
by latest you mean 2.0.15?

Yes I mean 2.0.15 but I don't know what version I had before I saw 2.0.1 I think. Through the control panel I can click on upgrade to the lastest version so I wasn't paying attention.

Ouch. usually if i upgrade from a old version. i would go through the patch one by one.

like i am using 2.0.13.2
i will upgrade to 2.0.14 first
then i upgrade to 2.0.15

I don't know if upgrade to 2.0.15 directly from 2.0.13.2 will cause any problem. well i dare not to take the risk.

I would suggest you backup all your important database now before you start alternating files the XOOPS structure you have now.

can you put a link to ur site?

How did you upgrade btw?
did u accidentally overwrite the mainfile.php?

Supposedly when the host upgraded it created a backup. I just can't say what version I was using. I know I upgraded before when I did the site right before the summer session so that would have been June of last year. It was the most recent upgrade.

Here is the information my host gave me:

But I don't know how to untar without being in the actual XOOPS module and I don't know how to import/export unless I can do it via a FTP. If you could help me with this I will love you forever and so will my students. It's like a week before midterms.

Oh I didn't see what you wrote...I'm so panicked.

No, I didn't do it myself. I use designxchange as my web host. When I go into my control panel I can install anything from XOOPS to wordpress to phpnuke right from my own control panel. They have an add-on called fantisco and it has at least 30 different add ons. I was setting up a sub domain when I noticed the message that I didn't have the latest version of XOOPS. I didn't even think about it I just clicked "upgrade" and the lastest version installed which is why I didn't notice what the previous version was.

How do I back up my databases? I have no idea. I never had to install xoops. I chose it as a option from my add on menu and it installed automatically.

hmm hmm this is going to be hard.
you need to access to your site' control panel for backups

find the icon with the label "backup"
access it and you should know what to do with it
"Generate/Download a Full Backup"

Is this the first time you upgrade your XOOPS package?
When did you install your XOOPS site?

and if you go to the fantaciso page in your control panel. look at xoops. see what version is stated there.

Full backups CANNOT be restored by CPanel automatically. Only your server administrator can restore a full backup automatically. If you want to be able to use CPanel to restore your backup files, you must use the separate HOME, SQL, ALIASES and FILTERS backup features, and then you can restore them below.

My server generated a backup file before it upgraded to xoops, I remember that message at least.

No I upgraded it over the summer when I updated by site.

If everything is 100% backup before you upgraded xoops.
Maybe you could restore the original state? refer to your host for directions
