This is what my control panel says for XOOPS installation:

Current installations:
/ (2.0.15) Visit site Remove

This is the backup page on my server

Download a backup file

Full Backup

Please Note: Full Backups allow you to save a complete, compressed copy of all of your site data either to your home directory locally or remotely to an FTP server. Full backups CANNOT be restored by CPanel automatically. Only your server administrator can restore a full backup automatically. If you want to be able to use CPanel to restore your backup files, you must use the separate HOME, SQL, ALIASES and FILTERS backup features, and then you can restore them below.

Generate/Download a Full Backup

Download today's backup file:
Download

Download an SQL Database Backup
xoop1

Download an Aliases Backup
re-javanation.com
test.re-javanation.com

Download a Filters Backup
re-javanation.com
test.re-javanation.com

My server generated a backup file before it upgraded to xoops, I remember that message at least.

No I upgraded it over the summer when I updated by site.

Oh I didn't see what you wrote...I'm so panicked.

No, I didn't do it myself. I use designxchange as my web host. When I go into my control panel I can install anything from XOOPS to wordpress to phpnuke right from my own control panel. They have an add-on called fantisco and it has at least 30 different add ons. I was setting up a sub domain when I noticed the message that I didn't have the latest version of XOOPS. I didn't even think about it I just clicked "upgrade" and the lastest version installed which is why I didn't notice what the previous version was.

How do I back up my databases? I have no idea. I never had to install xoops. I chose it as a option from my add on menu and it installed automatically.

Supposedly when the host upgraded it created a backup. I just can't say what version I was using. I know I upgraded before when I did the site right before the summer session so that would have been June of last year. It was the most recent upgrade.

The site is at www.re-javanation.com

Here is the information my host gave me:
Please save following information. You will need it in order to

restore if something went wrong

If you don't have SSH access, ask support to help you:
- delete all the files listed in

/home/retjava/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
- delete /home/retjava/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
- Untar /home/retjava/fantastico_backups/.backup.1160190568.tgz
- Empty the database retjava_xoop1
- Import the file /home/retjava/fantastico_backups//backup.sql into

the database retjava_xoop1
- Move /home/retjava/fantastico_backups/ to /home/retjava/public_html

But I don't know how to untar without being in the actual XOOPS module and I don't know how to import/export unless I can do it via a FTP. If you could help me with this I will love you forever and so will my students. It's like a week before midterms.

Yes I mean 2.0.15 but I don't know what version I had before I saw 2.0.1 I think. Through the control panel I can click on upgrade to the lastest version so I wasn't paying attention.

I use a web host that tries to stay up to date on new versions of add-ons. They said I didn't have the lastest version XOOPS and I should upgrade which I did. My site has disappeared. This couldn't have happen at a worst time because my students are attempting to download their next 8 homework assigments. I tried to login to the admin area of my site, but I received an error that I was not authorized then directed me to the user.php but there was nothing on the page.

I received these instructions from my host after the installation:

Please save following information. You will need it in order to

restore if something went wrong

If you don't have SSH access, ask support to help you:
- delete all the files listed in

/home/retjava/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
- delete /home/retjava/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
- Untar /home/retjava/fantastico_backups/.backup.1160190568.tgz
- Empty the database retjava_xoop1
- Import the file /home/retjava/fantastico_backups//backup.sql into

the database retjava_xoop1
- Move /home/retjava/fantastico_backups/ to /home/retjava/public_html

I don't know what to do. My host is located in England it's like 3:19 am there. Help. I just need to get into the admin section and update the modules or restore the back up, but I don't know how to do that based on these instructions and the customer support people are not responding.

Please help.

Thank you.

Question: How do I delete Submenus?

The site I designed is for my Algebra class. In the download section I do not need the submenu "Submit", "Popular" "Top Rated." I would like to eliminate them or hide them. Can someone tell me how to do that. I know I have the modify the template. I am tempted to delete the line of code that calls out the "submenus" but I am sure that will probably affect other things. I am really good at hmtl, but unfamiliar with the templates of XOOPS so if you explain to me how to do it, I can probably figure it out.

Also I was wondering how to get rid of the extraneous info on the actual page so it doesn't look so junkie. I just want the categories and the download options. I know I how to nix the graphic but what about the "notification" area stuff and the "various options"?

Question: How Do I Edit a Template?

That is kind of a trick question because I actually know how to edit the template I want to edit. The problem is when I click on "edit template" it is not giving me the option to "save" or "go" but "view," which doesn't do much but let me "view" the change I made.

I am sure I have to change the permission somewhere to allow me to edit, so that's really the question I am asking. I have tried both through the admin module and through the actual block with no success.

Can someone help me?

I am trying to access my admin.php file so I can go in and do some changes on my site and I get this error message:
This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance.

Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34

I tried the link and nothing. I really don't know what happened since I haven't really access this site in awhile I can't imagine what has changed or how I can begin to fix it. It is a site I use for shcool which is starting on Wednesday so I need it asap. Anyone that can offer me any assistance which be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, after I installed the modules I saw what the other poster was referring to. The modules installed just fine, but they are not appearing on my homepage. I assume it has something to do with the path.

However, in answer to your question, if you can get everything to work for you in the subfolder you can change the path of the mainfile.php to your domain and just keep adding your changes in the subfolder. I did this, not with yahoo, but another host. I don't know if will work with yahoo because it's freaky, but it worked with the other host.

Okay. This is what I did. I uploaded the XOOPS into a directory called XOOPS. I follow the path name to the admin.php and was able to get the installation menu. I walked through everything set up MySQL data base and XOOPS installed fine. When I went to the path admin.php to customize, I received two error messages. One to delete the installation directory and the other to change the permission of my mainfile.php. Both were easily done.

Currently I am making my modifications and I am about to install a new theme. I already have a website in my root directory. Once everything I am going to remove my old website from my root directory and change the path of my mainfile.php to my current domain path.

I don't know if anyone has gotten this far, but so far everything has worked perfectly. I'll know more when I start trying to upload and install some more modules.
