I was using MS Weather and swtiched to VL Weather. I do not like its setup as well, but it does draw on the NOAA, so there is not the copyright issues, and less likely hood of the format changing.

I'm using VL, too, mostly because it's the only thing I could get to work. And I like the lack of copyright issues. However, I'm having a problem with the icons. For example, right now--2:50pm EDT--the icon shows a night scene. Last night at 9:00pm it showed a daytime scene. Appears like it might be 12 hours off. Have you noticed a similar problem?

Modules that are great that get abandoned by the author.

Alas, it's true! Sigh... I know it's stating the obvious, but seems the only modules you can count on are the ones like News, CBB/NewBB, etc. That's the problem with free software, and I don't know that it will ever change. Modules come, and, if they are not nearly universally desired--and sometimes even then--they fade away. I guess the only real answer is to either become a PHP programmer or hire one, and either of these presents a serious problem to me.

Wishing that things were different is probably not a productive use of one's time. I know, I've been there. Been wishing for good classifieds and directory modules for 2 years, now. The directory module hole may yet be filled with efqDirectory and/or mxDirectory thanks to some very talented and generous people, but there is no prospect at all for a classifieds module.

So, perhaps the smart thing to do if the options in the above paragraph are, as for me, not possible, is to design a site around those modules which have a high probability of survivability and relative longevity. Not exactly how I would prefer to do it, but probably the smart way. The good thing is that there are a number of very good modules which, thanks to their developers, are enjoying ongoing development. So, the cup is really more than half full!

Has anyone adopted it?

I have finally got a working version of MS-Weather. It now uses weather underground instead of the pain in the butt Yahoo.
Currently it is hard coded for one location.
Before I release any code I need some feedback on the look and feel of it.
I have a small town web site which uses php-Nuke where this module lives.
Please make a visit at: http://hinsdale-mass.org
Find the weather block in upper right hand corner.
Click forecast.
Then click detail.
Is this close to what you guys want to see?

Hi Jere,

Yes, I have noted the same issue. Sometime is off in its timing.

Looks nice. Are you planning on releasing the code?
"I'm going to see if this internet thing takes off" - someone told me this when I suggested he needed a website.

I'm using XOOPS 2.0.13.2 in http://www.Barroca.org
My ms-weather module is ok until I apply the fix of turn register_globals in off.
Maybe this make ms-weather out.
You fix your XOOPS too?
Best Regards
Barroca

I am making good progress on putting the city choice feature back in.
Took awhile to figure out their schema.
Should have that done cleanly today.
Then need to clean up the code quite a bit and publish.
Should be a few days.
Stay tuned.
