Inserting tables into custom blocks

I searched the forums for this and i didnt see anything on this subject. Im not sure if anyone has had this issue but once i try to insert a table into a custom block, for some reason the background color tag wont work. Though im new to XOOPS i consider myself pretty good with html and im pretty certain that im creating the table correctly. Heres an example of the table i want to insert into my right block:

[table border="0" bordercolor="" width="100%" bgcolor="#996600"]
[tr]
[td] row 1, column 1 [/td]
[/tr]
[/table]

Also make sure you have the admin/system/preferences/general settings for Update Template Modifications set to YES.

Easiest thing to do is set the block type to HTML, and use regular html tags like , not bbcode tags like [this].

Hmm ive tried that could it be something in the css files? My site background is #000000. When i do type regular text in the blocks the correct background color appears. But when i add the tables the background color reeverts to the site bg color.

It probably is your CSS. I use tables in a custom block on one of my sites, and I recall having to add classes to my CSS.

Check the css and look for your block content styles. Leftcolumn blockcontent, Rightcolumn blockcontent etc. See what it says there. It could be set to #000000, or it could even be set to transparent. Plus, don't forget Herko's suggestion on the tags when you are using html.
