Forum..Flat versus Threaed

How do i set the forum to stay in a threaded format? It seems to be in flat mode by default. I can click on word flat and change it when in forum, but want to know how to have start at threaded. Thanks Randallh

Each user can set it in their account, and the default can be set in the forum perferances, asuming you are using NewBB2 or CBB. I don't think NewBB1 had this option.

how do i know what version i have, and is there a hassle free upgrade to a newer style forum? thx for your help.

System Admin --> Modules. Look down the list. Name and version will be shown. There is also a global setting in System Admin --> Preferences (worded as Comment Display Mode) that allows you to set your comments (and forum threads I think) as either threaded or flat.
