Damaster,

Would you mind putting together a rework using the new logo? It would be nice to have another design to throw into the hat.

Great to see some very nice designs being submitted. Keep up the great work!

Best Regards,

James

@ Damaster

Great idea, I´ve never tried to make a layout without left blocks.

Don't misunderstood me!... Think of most common software's interface (File, Edition, etc) links are only showed if the user click on it, as any contextual menu it stills hidden.
But the Left Block is always there!
This permits the user to focus on the content and
to show, only when needed, the navigation - the layout is resized automatically.

I like people more than machines or money. But that's me!
Lets do something good and great: Lets do open source!

I like the on/off switch for the left column.

What I wanted to ask is according to the design requirements

Quote:

The design requirements
The whole site needs to be state-of-the-art, and that includes full standards compliance. This is:
- XHTML 1.0 transitional (if possible: strict)
- CSS 1.0 and 2.0
- Accessible (using accesskeys for main navigation for example)

Is it a rule that theme design should be done without the use of tables?

Yes and no. Theme design (and with this I mean themes, templates, the full site layout and design) should use tables for tabular data only. Tables are not for positioning, that's what CSS rules are for. Tabular data is common enough, and table elemts can be yused there.

If at any point of the redesign process of xoops.org, XOOPS needs the help of webdesign, we, at xoopsdesign.com are glad to help out with anything needed. Currently it is not possible for us to hand in an undetermined quantity of design layouts. Yet if there is a design that is chosen and XOOPS needs to port the design to a theme, we will be glad to contribute with the process.

Thanks, Snow. Much appreciated.

Just bumping this post in regards to the recent redesign threads.. some excellent ideas covered in this (worth re-reading in case you've missed... Damaster's XoopsCube/XoopsServer theme is really nice, and I very much like StudioC's first example - especially with the tabs as well

Some very nice examples! I very much like the design on page 5 by StudioC.

The colors of the tabs are very useful in regard to the structure of the proposed XOOPS website. It is important that visitors will easily be able to recognize which main sites they can visit for their needs. Therefor the bright colors are a good option.

The logo in the banner should be be more like the original one. I personally think the example on devteam.xoops.org looks more esthetic. In the content I think it would be nice to have a little variation now and then in the logo, like in this example.
