Hello,

i´m trying to split the main menu in different sections:

I´ve been told this should be done with the multimenu 1.7.

But how???

I´ve read the help guide of the module but i don´t get to understand how to make the menu appear divided into different sections.

Could you please give us a little hint on how to do this...because i think we can´t figure out by ourselves...

Thank you in advanced

You have about 4 multimenus. I use multimenu 1 for my main site links, Multimenu 2 I use for content on my site (news, tutorials, links, discussion board, ect.) Multimenu 3 I use for off site content (Virus alerts, RSS feeds, ect.) Multimenu 4 I use for my support ticket system.

Make sure that you are using the latest version, Multimenu 1.7 is the latest version.

Actully, Multimenu 1.73 is the latest version as described in their latest news release. This version will allow up to 8 menus.

As mentioned, go to your multimenu admin and select one menu for your links. If you want to use another block, use a second menu and so on. Once you have created your multimenus, you will have to go into your blocks administration and position them where you want. Afterward, set your group permissions for the various blocks and your all set.

lol

Another way to display your block content, is to use the "category" links. You can see a sample in my main menu on the WolFactory.

By selecting the link as "dynamic or permanent" sublink.

I'm bamboozled by this module, even though I've read the manuals and this thread a couple of times. In trying to understand it I've comparede its action to the standard main menu but I have found some terms are not fully defined:
Category?
_MI_MULTIMENU_NAME_01 vs _MI_MULTIMENU_NAME_A or B?
What is a main link vs the permanent sublink or dynamic sublink

Why do blocks have the same names as menus? and why is there no Menu A or Menu B?

sorry about the pedantry but its the last refuge of the confused mind

A Mainlink is a bold link that always shows in the menu. A dynamic sublink is a sublink that only shows after the mainlink is clicked. A permanent sublink is a sublink that always shows.

Not sure about the _MI_MULTIMENU_NAME_01 vs _MI_MULTIMENU_NAME_A or B question. But the menues can be titled in the blocks admin section just like any other block.

If you look at my site all menus showing are multimenu. Also I have a tutorial on adding links Here.

Just shows a couple of ways to use it, but there are many more.

HTH.

Thanks for the flash tutorial, JD. At least I can now get a block up. However I still can't get it to list the sublinks. Lets see if I did all the right things:
Select Preferences from the Multimenu module.
Display main page = no
Banner = no
nav bar, icons = no
image wiodth = 0
menu to display = none
Theme = path
Menu Title 01= "College Documents"
Display in Index=Yes
The rest left untouched. Go1

Add two Permanent sublinks
"get the College Manual". Relative link to file. Absolute link to picture. Make it accessible to webmasters, Members and anonymous. Status Online (different from Visible?) .Target self.
"get MOPS". Relative link to file. no link to picture. Make it accessible to webmasters, Members only. Status Online. Target self

Go to Blocks Admin
Set menu Block #1 (College Documents) to right side, weight 4
Make visible on all pages
Block format = Unordered List, 1 column
Links to display = All, by weight
Display Title and Image
Leave the rest untouched

So when I drop in on the site I see only the Block Title, no sublinks, regardless of user type.

What am I doing wrong?
UPDATE: A total uninstall, reinstall did the trick.
