Hello,

On my site I am planning to have forums as main module. WHat I want is ability that users can subscribe to a Forum board and recieve periodic updates in their INBOX when someone posts in that forum.

For eg: As a user I would like to recieve all the posts in forum board "Installation and Troubleshooting" on xoops.org in my email weekly.

I am not sure if any forum module on XOOPS has that feature.

Does any other CMS or Forums provide this feature.?

I use the latest NewBB and it has that option. I receive all new posts with full content to my mail box.

I encourage all module developers to have (at least for webmasters) the ability to have notification of new activity sent to e-mail, especially if the webmasters have to approve submissions!

In fact if you look below this post (when you are submitting at least) you will see a check box for "Notify me of new posts in this thread"

Hope that answers your question. One of the few I have an answer for! (smile)

the notifications options do this, as stated above....but each user will need to set their own preferences in the 'Edit Account' area of the user menu, so that it will e-mail them and not PM them.

The other option of course is to post a link to a good RSS reader or e-mail app that will pull RSS feeds for you. Then each user can just use the RSS feed to get the forum contents on a regular basis.

(keep in mind that all of these scenarios keep people from coming to your site...so if thats not a problem, go for it!)
