It may or may not be XOOPS - it probably is a conflict with your e-mail server where your site is hosted at.

You might want to contact them for help in configuring the mail settings on XOOPS (found in Admin)to match what their mail server needs.

I had to do that with the new server I use as it did not work with the XOOPS default.

Thanks Preachur,

I'll do some testing to see if it seems more the Smartsection problem and if it seems likely I'll go over to their forum and post.

I just hate to mess with the site during business hours. Never know when someone is trying to access it. :o)

Greetings,

I put the theme on default and tried adding a wordpress block (since I already have a smartsection block). No good, I got the standard message:

(Quote)
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

More information Etc.

(End quote) (Similar on Firefox too)

When I tried doing the same with the debug on it never got to the site to give an debug/error report.

Here are some VDS specs.
Fedora Core release 4 (Stentz)
Linux SMP Tue Dec 5 14:24:39 MSK 2006 i686 i686 i386
PHP Version 5.0.4
GNU/Linux
DNS Version: 9.3.1-20.FC4
Email
Firewall
FrontPage
FTP
MySQL Server version: 4.1.20-1.FC4.1
Client version: 4.1.20-1.FC4.1
PostgreSQL
Tomcat
Apache Version: 2.0.54-10.4

Don't know if any of this helps but I appreciate the suggestions so far.

Greetings all,

Since moving to a virtual dedicated server I have had all kinds of challenges.

Now I'm having a battle of the blocks. I can show blocks from SmartSection but can't show WordPress or I get a white screen. Same if reversed.

Custom blocks show up fine, system blocks are ok too. Just when I try to show blocks from both SmartSection and WordPress in any combination on the front page I get the white screen of death.

Any thoughts? I'd like to show the latest blog entries as well as articles.

Theme.html changes inconsistent

Greetings all,

Once again I turn to the vast wisdom of the XOOPS community.

I am moving all my XOOPS sites to a dedicated virtual server using fresh installs of the latest version.

Everything is going fine except when I edit the theme index.html file the changes don't always show up. They do about 1/4 the time. The rest of the time they reflect the old index.html even when the newer version is on the server.

I've used IE and firefox and still see the older file.

I don't know if this is a version problem, a server problem or what because I've changed theme index.htmls for years without this challenge.

I have the file permission changed, check templates set on.

Maybe there is something minor I'm missing?

Everything else changes fine, blocks, side menu etc. only the header menus and footer info I change in the theme index.html

Thank you for the assistance.

Greetings all,

I'm having fatal errors on many mods with the latest version.

Now I'm getting errors on the two headlines mods:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/content/s/p/r/site/html/class/xoopsform/form.php on line 193 (Headlines0)

Smart Factory had to work on their mods and Liaise worked until I added another form.

Is there a general topic already for this? I'd love to see the mod authors do a roll call on which mods have been checked for this version.

Thanks!

When I created a new forum and checked the "Apply global permissions", it doesn't take effect.

When I went back and did the permissions one by one it worked.

However the global permissions feature is a Must Have to save our sanity :o)

I haven't looked at the template feature since my menus were there already. However I have had to go into the database and remove old BB data when upgrading in the past.

I apreciate the work done on the forum since it is so popular on sites - and appreciate the improvements on speed too. Thank!

I'm having some of the same challenges with permissions not working - I suppose you could always go to the MySQL and change the permissions there - I might do that myself.

Best!

Thanks - it was a little more complex than that. Here is what I did although I'm still having some challenges in the admin section - I couldn't delete a forum or make a few changes there:

This is what I just did:

1) Went to my MySQL database and backed up entire database and then just the BB fields for data only.

2) Went to Admin/Modules and uninstalled Forum
3) Re-installed Forum (3.01)

4) Went back to MySQL and emptied the BB (only) fields to remove the test forum

5) Did a SQL and added back the data I copied from the original fields.
