Hello, my name is Jamie, and I'm a lurker... I also consider myself a human sponge; spending about 90% of my day surfing, reading, learning, and then about 10% applying; which is why I absolutly love the XOOPS community. With little or no interaction with the community, I have managed to learn more about XOOPS in the past year than I could have believed imaginable. [BTW, I had to re-register b/c the email I used to register my previous username (jmedodd) is no longer in use and sponge or not, I can't for the life of me figure out how to reset my password w/o my email account, lol.]

I use XOOPS almost exclusively in my web design work. Whenever I start new projects, I always pause to see if XOOPS is a possibility before even thinking of other ways to solve a development process. Not b/c I'm lazy, just b/c 9 out of 10, XOOPS works and I like to stick to what works. I'm always excited to see new module projects and to see what new features herko and the team are implementing.

I used to be very active over on the Postnuke side of the house but life (work, kids, blah) got in the way and I had to back away. Then I found XOOPS and it's been impossible for me to look back at Postnuke. I'm not active here, like I said...lurker... but I do follow the projects extensively. I would love to become more active but I've got another little one on the way and I'm too afraid to start any more big projects just to get too busy and have to flake out again, hence the lurking.

Anyhow, just wanted to stand be counted and if I'm any example, I would say there are MANY women who are actively using Xoops, they're probably just not as outspoken as the men.

As I understand it correct you (jmewalker) were an extensive Postnuke user and member. What makes me curious is what was the reason to start looking around at other CMS's and what was the reason to jump over to XOOPS and leave Postnuke behind you?

One of my clients actually insisted her site be made with XOOPS so I was pretty much forced to do a crash course. I still haven't mastered creating modules [that actually interact w/the database] yet but that's my next task. I also love how secure the system is and adore how quickly security updates are released; I can't tell you how important it is to me that security is taken so seriously.

I had been slowly weening myself from the PN board for a while due to a lot of drama @ the time and just found myself naturally setting down roots here @ xoops. I don't even visit the PN board anymore really. I don't feel like I "abondoned" the PN project, just that I've moved on to a better place. With so many life changes right now, I would have had to give up the PN projects within a matter of time anyhow.

Better late than never, just noticed this thread.

Add me to the "xoops women" list, I have several sites using this wonderful CMS, and you probably guessed from my username that I'm female, although not really a koala.
