Dear Friends ,

I have my Indian community site http://www.crpark.net with the help of XOOPS my site is running well, but I love to have a online dating module for my site with the features of adding images and search. I request all the Php and XOOPS gurus to help creating a module for dating, it will be great for all the community sites running with Xoops...

Dating can be a great attraction for generating site traffic..

Please let me know if someone can help ?? As I do not have any experience with php so I can't do it myself. Hope you guys will help..

Thanks
Argha.

UD Dating may be just what you need, but take note of the comment about it being encoded. As an alternative, you could try Friendfinder. Download the 'fixed' version from the link in the comment. It is very basic and still has a few glitches, but it seemed to work. There's some info in this thread.

Thankyou friends...

I will evaluate both and choose the one which fits better as per my needs, thanks again for such a quick response.

I actually modded the friendfinder mod to add more functionality and fixed the e-mail ability. I will load it up on my site http://www.code33.com in a few days. if anyone wants it let me know I will e-mail it to ya.

I beleive I have fixed most of the bugs and fixed the direct friends plugin.

I agree. XOOPS certainly needs a dating module that works.

I *think* if the module is no longer supported, you can submit your 'improved' version as a new module, (e.g. EMS Friendfinder) provided you give some credits to the original developer?.

I confess I would be interested to know what the 'official' protocol is for fixing a buggy module and re-releasing it?

If the original developer is inactive and the module is unsupported (you have to have made a real attempt to contact the developer), then yes, you're free to release a new version.
The GPL allows you to release a new version without contacting anyone tho, just leave the original credits intact 9and add your own).

Just remember that by releasing a module (therefore making it active) brings along a few responsibilities (development, support, avialability etc.).
