Just "for what it's worth"---
After trying, and scraping, xcGallery and several others, I integrated my own XOOPS site with Coppermine, linking it off with Multimenu 1.4c which opens a new window. I scrapped xcGallery because my site, being a web presence for a Horse-related business, uses drather large graphics on the scale of > 600p width. I found that most of the gallery mods completely destroyed the resolution for the thumnails, making the pic totally unrecognizable. That is not at all true of Coppermine,(on which xcGallery is based), which does a fine job. You can do this without the necessity of changing the coding for the file-paths in Xoops, as well.
On you local computer. If you don't have it, you can download an Apache server for Windows from SourceForge. Mine works fine on XP Pro, and I haven't had a single problem with it. This will give your Win System the same capability with PHP and mySQL/myAdmin back-end that you will find on Linux/Unix hosts.
Its a neat toy and a good way to experiment with php/mySQL programs.

Hope this helps a little.
