I am trying to manage with XOOPS and everything was fine till i installed XcGallery in my computer. I have been reading something about the different way to make thumbail and all this things but, all the information i find is refered to the host and linux. Hence, How can i handle with this in a local machine with windows??? Do i have to install the whole package for those applications??? How should i do it????

Thanks,
Álvaro

xcgallery works with GD, GD2, netpbm and imagemagik.

the simplest is to use GD2 as it should be installed with PHP as default, and gd2 is just as functional as netpbm these days.

imagemagik and netpbm will need to be installed seperate and then the apropriate entries made to php.ini for the paths and libraries.. however i haven't ever used them with windows (dunno if there is a win32 version of them or not) but search google for netpbm and imagemagik and you should find their homepages which will give you info on win32 versions if there are any.. however GD2 should be more than enough to make xcgallery work..

Alvaro--

Just "for what it's worth"---

After trying, and scraping, xcGallery and several others, I integrated my own XOOPS site with Coppermine, linking it off with Multimenu 1.4c which opens a new window. I scrapped xcGallery because my site, being a web presence for a Horse-related business, uses drather large graphics on the scale of > 600p width. I found that most of the gallery mods completely destroyed the resolution for the thumnails, making the pic totally unrecognizable. That is not at all true of Coppermine,(on which xcGallery is based), which does a fine job. You can do this without the necessity of changing the coding for the file-paths in Xoops, as well.

On you local computer. If you don't have it, you can download an Apache server for Windows from SourceForge. Mine works fine on XP Pro, and I haven't had a single problem with it. This will give your Win System the same capability with PHP and mySQL/myAdmin back-end that you will find on Linux/Unix hosts.
Its a neat toy and a good way to experiment with php/mySQL programs.

If you want to take a look at how I have this set up, just click the link on my signature line.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for your information. I would like to try first with GD and i have settled this in my xcGallery module configurations page. But i am getting the same error
Quote:

PHP running on your server does not support the GD image library, check with your webhost if ImageMagick or Netpbm is installed

I have installed PHP, Apache and MySql, by means of IBServer. Hence, i have just clicked on next within the installation and no "special" configurations have been done. So, how can I configure thumbnail in my PHP server.

It is taking me a lot...that shouldn't be so difficult, isn't it?
