Is there a way to add XOOPS comments to the RSS feed (backend.php).

I use RSSFit but there is no plugin for comments. I posted a request on RSSFit website (http://www.brandycoke.com) but no response yet. I may write a plugin - has anyone already done this? Can't find it if they have.

Graham

There is now... 'cos I made it!

You can grab the file here:

http://www.grahamdavies.net/uploads/rssfit.comments.phps

Download and install RSSFit from http://www.brandycoke.com
Save the above file into the plugins directory but change the name to .php not .phps
Activate the plugin from the RSSFit admin menu.
Check your RSS feed works at /modules/rss/rss.php
Optional: create a .htacces redirect to /index.rss

This is a temporary fix and I think comments should be wired into backend.php in the next version of xoops.

Hope you find it useful,
Graham

Hi Gravis

I installed your plugins COMMENTS and WORDBOOK, but they did not work. When I clicked on RSS/XML buttons nothing happenned.

Do you know what could be causing this?

Thanks.

Bad, but... it doesn't work, even worse - with this plugin "Plugins" page in RSSFit admin-area become unaccessible.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the slow reply. I tried installing both plugins in a fresh install of XOOPS 2.92 and RSSFit 1.03 and copied my rssfit.comments.phps to the plugin directory, renaming to rssfit.comments.php.

When I go to Manage Plugins in the admin menu for RSSFit I see all the modules and I can install the comments plugin. Once installed I can still see the other plugins.

Make sure you don't have any spurious files in the RSSFit plugin directory. If the file is .phps it will not work. If there are other files in there (eg. .something) then it confuses the admin module and none of the plugins appear.

You might also turn on PHP debug / MySQL debug in the XOOPS system preferences and see if there are any messages.

Can you give me more details of how you installed these plugins?

Sorry I can't be more help.

still not working.
-saved files as .php
- nothing strange on plugins folder
- php debug on: get the messase: The page cannot be displayed.
- also on admin I get:
rssfit.comments.php Errors
Plug-in not compatible (Class not exist)
rssfit.wordbook.php Errors
Plug-in not compatible (Class not exist)

Any help?

Well I totally forgot about this thread and my notifications didn't seem to be getting through... so big sorry.

Hopefully by now you will have found that brandycoke included my comment plugin in their new version of RSSFit (1.1).

I think the previous problems you were having may have been due to a version conflict of RSSFit - but this is no longer an issue.

I have tested 1.1 with 2.0.9.2 and it all works as expected. Unfortunately I upgraded to XOOPS 2.0.10.0 and now 1.1 is broken. Be warned...

I had RSSFIT on 2.0.9.3 (and comments plugin now works), for .10 RSSFIT show warning, but continue to work without visible errors

Strange, I just tried it with 2.1.10 and all I got was an empty feed - no matter which plugins were installed... will try again later.
